Hiei's POV

My eyes opened to see a familiar ceiling as I woke. I looked around and found Hayami reading a book as I sat up from the bed. She was sitting on another bed next to the one I'm laying in, then senses my wake and looked towards me.

"Glad to see you're awake." She said with a small smile as she closed her book, giving her full attention to me. Though that smile bothered me a little, knowing that it wasn't the smile I was used to seeing on her face.

"How long was I out?" I asked, remembering that I passed out from exhaustion after my fight with Homura. I suddenly felt a pang of pain on my head and held it.

"You've been asleep for only an hour. Homura brought you here to our room herself while she decided to get to know the boys a little more. Though Jin has taken a shine to her which was amusing to say the least." Hayami explained which made my blood boil at the thought of the wind master taking my sister like how that oaf taking on Yukina.

"Also, if you're going to be wondering about the sudden ache on your head, Ranumi felt the need to punch you for lying to me before attending to your injuries." She added and I could hear the amusement in her voice when she said that. I suppose that explains it.

I could only imagine the thought of Ranumi being bold enough to do something to me in my sleep. Then again, I probably deserved that since the water lily is also protective and concern for her sister. Not to mention courageous enough to even hurt me despite her fragile figure. Though after spending enough time with Ranumi is enough for me to know that she is not to be underestimated. Speaking of which.

"Hayami." I called her attention.

"Hm?"

"I'm sorry." I said, still feeling guilty of the fact that I hurt her that badly.

"For what?" She asked,

"For hurting you." I said specifically hinting of what I meant,

"Oh..." She said and looked away from my gaze before sighing. "It's okay. I'm sure that you're still feeling guilty of that and to be completely honest, I'm still doubting that I wouldn't be enough for you." Hayami said which made my eyes widen in confusion. She must've sensed this and sighed once more. "I'm sure you know Mukuro. What I mean by it is that you know him fully underneath that mask." She said,

"So you know that-" Before I could even finish my sentence, she cuts me off,

"That she's a woman. Yes." Hayami said as I could feel her insecurities eating her from the inside and I hate that she's doubting herself. "I've had my suspicion about who she was until I heard her voice in person. I didn't want to say anything until I noticed the hints that yours and my family had been giving to my uncle. Apparently, Takumi is in love with Mukuro but was too much of a coward to admit it out loud." She said as she turned her gaze towards me, "That's where I also noticed the attention she gives to you." She turned her head away in shame. "I hate to admit it, but I'm jealous of her."

I sighed as I got up from the bed and walked in front of my mate. "You have nothing to be jealous of. It just so happens that she had chosen me to be her heir of ever retires." I said to her as she took a glance at me from the corner of her eyes.

"If she did retires, would you have taken her throne?" She asked which left me speechless. "Knowing that you would like to be in power, you would've taken the offer without a second thought. Any demon would kill to be in your place." She said like I was an open book to her. Though her words have some truth in them, but what's the point of ruling her turf if Hayami might be the heir of her family's domain.

"Hn. As much as I want to take that offer, I'd rather decline." I said which surprised her completely which made me smirked. "To think you'd know me well enough to know what I really want, Onna." I smirked as I just kneeled in front of her with my arms crossed on her lap, making her blush a little and looked away.
