Ranumi's POV
Me and Kurama were outside the stadium when we felt a powerful demon energy surge and Genkai's passing. Kurama held me in comfort for loosing Genkai. But we felt another powerful energy and I would recognize this one from anywhere.
"Hayami..." I mumbled as Lala cooed sadly,
Thunder sounds where heard as we looked up to see rain clouds forming.
"It would appear that Hayami's despair is a causing a rain." Kurama said carrying me bridal style,
To be completely honest, I was emotionally drain and my body just doesn't want move. As much as I want to protest on Kurama carrying me like this, I don't have to energy to argue. Especially after the threat that Karasu gave to Kurama... Even saying that he wanted me to be his toy if his team won the tournament.
Like that's going to happen.
As Kurama carried me and Lala towards the hotel, my thoughts went back to seeing Yoko back at the stadium. My heart heated up upon seeing him, not only that, it made me avoid looking at Kurama. When we got near the hotel, I asked him to put me down as we just walked in silence to our hotel room with father.
Hayami's POV
As the night covered the island, I couldn't help but look at the stars outside window as I sat fromme and Hiei's bed. Yukina was already asleep while Hiei was taking a shower.
My mind went to the memories I made with Genkai when we first met her in this world. Naturally we didn't respected each other since I used to hate humans. But only after a few months of staying with her along with my family, I began to understand more about them from her. She agreed on teaching me how to control my powers and thought me and Ranumi things we didn't know along with father.
My thoughts were cut off by a door opening, but by the scent I smelled was coming from the bathroom, I already knew who it was. I felt the bed shifted and two arms pulled me in.
"Hey." I said looking at those crimson eyes,
"Hello yourself." Hiei said kissing my forehead as he trapped me in his embrace. "Will you be okay? I know loosing her puts a heavy weight on you earlier."
"I'll be fine, Hiei. I just need a minute to regain myself." I said placing my head on the crook of his neck, taking in his scent that calms me. "Genkai treated me and Ranumi as if we were her own granddaughters. She made me feel what was like to have a mother again, despite her way of teaching or training us." I chuckled at the last part,
"You said earlier that Toguro was Genkai's former lover." Hiei said in which I nodded, "Could you tell me what happened?" He asked,
I sighed, "In all my years of differentiating a human and a demon, I couldn't believe that Toguro was once a human." I said, making Hiei shock for a second, "When Genkai and Toguro were in their youth, they were madly in love. Almost inseparable. They opened a dojo together, training young and promising students. But then one day, a demon named Kairen barged in and killed all their students, leaving not a single life. Toguro came in seeing all his and Genkai's students lifeless bodies on the floor. Kairen forced them to join the dark tournament and fight. Of course, Toguro's team won, killing Kairen in that tournament. The team each earned a wish. Toguro wished for eternal youth and strength, in which he gave up his soul and become the demon he is. Genkai refuses on taking the wish he made and left him, saying that she doesn't want to involved with the committee again. Toguro argued with the fact that human life is unfair. That they only live a short life while demons can last an eternity. They haven't seen each other after fifty years later here... To the place where it all started."
