Hiei's POV

I slowly woke up as my eyes adjust to the light that was blinding my view. Once I was able to get a clear vision, the first thing I see is a familiar ceiling.

Was I not in demon world?!

I immediately sat up and try to recall the events that happened, but just by remembering that I was suppose to stay in demon world just made me angry that they brought me back here to this world. That was my one chance.

"Good to see that you're finally awake, Hiei." I turned to the owner of the voice and see Lady Wakumi sitting on the couch as she reads a book in her hand. "How are you feeling?" She asked,

"I'm fine." I replied almost immediately to see her features go a little concern. "Nothing seems to be aching so far." I said calmly to her as I noticed the bandages wrapped around me. "What happened in killing Sensui?" I asked her,

Lady Wakumi closed the book she was reading before giving her full attention to me. "You fell into hibernation in demon world before Sensui's last breath." She said calmly and continued to explain, "Everyone decided to come back here to living world, since the spirit defense force had been closing the tunnel. Fortunately, you were all able to get back safely."

"You're saying that the tunnel is closed?!" I demanded in question out of anger.

"Yes, Hiei." She nodded her head and said, "You have been hibernating for half a day now and it is practically night time." She said as she looked at the window. "There's no doubt that the tunnel to demon world is completely close."

I followed her gaze to see that it was indeed night time. The thought of me just being back here infuriated me.

"Why the hell didn't they just left me there in demon world?!" I said not even thinking as I clenched my hands on the blanket that's covering my lower body, "That was my one chance to go back to the world I belong. Instead I just ended up back here to this one. They should've just left me there!"

"And leave you completely defenseless and vulnerable, Hiei?" Lady Wakumi said as I turned to face her with annoyance,

"Hn. I've survived on my own for years, even when I'm vulnerable, Lady Wakumi." I scoffed as I was about to get of the bed,

"So you're going to leave Hayami." She said making me stop at whatever I'm doing and looked at her with stunned eyes.

Hearing that just had me stunned, causing a slight pain in chest. If I leave, it would mean that I was leaving my mate behind... Alone even if she has her family with her. I could just imagine the pained look on her face if I leave. She would be miserable.

"Hiei, you know that if you leave, you'll not only just be leaving Yukina with Genkai, but you'll also be leaving what you have found and treasured behind." Lady Wakumi said, "I'm not saying the I'm forcing you to stay, but I'm letting you consider what you would do next. Not just for yourself, but also to your mate."

I looked down at the blanket in thought. She was right. Whatever my actions would do, it will also affect Hayami's decisions. As much as my desire wants to go back to demon world, I can't leave my mate behind.

I could tell that she had grown used to living with the humans for years and she's okay with it. She was at peace.

Even if I did go back to demon world without her, I'll just return to the meaningless life that I had lived just for searching the four things in my journey. But now, I found something that has a meaning and that it is worth protecting. I found one of the things I was looking for, that had been precious in my life for the times I've spent with her over the years we've known each other.
