Hayami's POV
It was now the next day. The doctor was put into prison and Kido is being treated in the hospital. All of us, except father went back to town. He said that he'll keep an eye out on Kido and call us for anything strange. I was reluctant upon leaving him there, even if he could take care of himself. With that, it only leaves six more psychics to figure out and what their powers are.
After meeting Chiharu, I could tell that she's a good kid and a good friend to my little sister. I only hope that they won't be using her, now that we know that she is spiritually aware of her surroundings. Kurama came me earlier this morning to aske about the nightmare I had. I explained what I saw and that Koenma was apart it. He nodded and left to spirit world, much to my confusion, but knowing the fox, he has a suspicion.
I was currently looking out for any suspicious human psychics near Saryasaki High School and of course, it means watching over Yusuke and Kuwabara after having the detective kidnapped for a lesson to learn. I looked up at the sky to see dark thunderclouds forming. A heavy rain will come tonight.
"Hayami." I turned around to see my beloved fire demon walking towards me. "I heard what happened from your mother about the incident in Mushiyori City."
"Yeah." I said as Lala flew to my shoulders and nuzzled her head against mine, "Instead of us finding them, they were hunting us. We've managed to get some of the information we needed, but the problem is that we don't know what they look like." She explained, "They already know all about us, but their main target is our detective."
"Hn. So basically you're babysitting the detective and that fool." Hiei said as stepped closer to me, "Yusuke can take care of himself, but that fool lost his spirit powers and will most likely be a last target."
"I wouldn't say a 'last target'. He lost his power after the dark tournament, there must be a reason why." I said looking at him, "You never know, what lever the reason is, the enemy might know it and will make him their first once we all think that he's defenseless."
"Hn." Was all Hiei said before looking at the school building,
"Anyway, what where you doing with Lala while we were away?" I asked,
"Nothing much, other than trying to look out for anything out of the ordinary. Not to mention about you getting severely injured yesterday." He scolded, "Hn. I suppose that means you are the one who needs babysitting."
"You're one excuse to keep me with you at all times, my beloved fire demon." I sassed at him, "Besides, we are already at the thick of danger. It's best to stay on guard for anything."
"Fine." Hiei said before pulling me close to face him, leaving no personal space for us at all. "Just make sure to be careful while I'm not with you next time or else."
"Don't worry, Hiei. I'll be careful." I said now trying to get out of his hold, "Can you let go of me?" I asked,
"Not just yet." He said and before I could say anything else, he pressed his lips against mine, kissing me deeply and passionately.
We pulled away after a few seconds for breath as he kissed my forehead.
"I love you, Hiei." I said to him as I looked into his crimson eyes,
"I love you, for eternity, Onna." He said as Lala went back to his shoulders before disappearing away from my sight.
I sighed in slight happiness as I heard the school bell ringing. Indicating that school must be over. I made my way to the school gate to meet up with Yusuke, Botan and Kuwabara, but the idiot ran the other direction.
