Hayami's POV
I could tell something was wrong in the air just by breathing it. A week later after the wedding, strange energy waves are radiating so suddenly around the city. Mother was requested by Genkai to come to her temple and had stayed with her after their honeymoon with father. Not to mention bringing Lala along with her to which I don't mind. While father went to his work place in Mushiyori City, saying that his boss needed him for an emergency, but suspiciously he hasn't returned.
What makes it worst, Makai insects are showing up randomly, though not in large groups unlike what happened in maze castle. Not only that, the air of demon world can be easily smelled, which explains those demon insects coming in. But what made me worry is the sudden energy bursts that I'm feeling in the town.
To think, that the tournament is over that we could just have some peace and quiet for a while. I guess we were wrong, because I started to have nightmares again, but it wasn't like when Toguro kept showing up. It was now different.
I kept seeing a man, a human in his adulthood to which I still remain completely unfamiliar with. But what made me frightened about him is the look in his eyes. Every time I see him, it's a new face that is worse than the last. Not only that, I kept seeing Koenma which was strange, but from the looks of it that they know it each other much to my confusion.
Hiei has seen my dreams and we both knew it was not a good sign. From that point, me and him have been patrolling the city for anything, but so far nothing but those stupid insects kept flying in.
"The air in this town is thick with energy. Demon insects flocks to it like sharks into an open wound." Hiei said after I killed another insects as we looked at the view of the town in front of us from a constructed building,
"Right, either a sign of what's to come like in my dreams or that the danger is already here." I said,
"Hn. Then again, what do I care." He scoffed,
"You'll start to care once my life's on the line or if the world is coming to an end." I scoffed, looking at him,
Hiei looked back at me. "As much as I want to prevent that from happening, I'd rather marry you now before that happens." He said and smirked as he leaned towards me,
"There's a perfect time and place for that to happen, my beloved fire demon." I said caressing his left cheek, "I'd rather focus on the problem at hand before personal matters. But seeing as you can't wait, I might as well continue on with patrol." I said jumping away from the area as I sensed him following me from behind,
'If you think you could run away that easily Onna, then think again.' He said to me through telepathy, 'You know you can't escape my Jagan eye.'
'Maybe, but I did once. Might as well catch up, Hiei.'
'Challenge accepted, my dear.' I could hear the huskiness of his voice and know that he's not taking this chase lightly.
I chuckled and try my best to stay ahead as much as possible despite his advantage in speed. This demon will soon be the end of me.
Ranumi's POV
It was now our lunch break and students crowded the halls to see the top students on the board. I don't really care much about it, just as long as I do my best. I'm currently putting some of my things in my bag just in case and pulled out my lunchbox that Hiei brought to me at the school gate when I accidentally left it at home. At least I know he cares about my health.
"Umi!" I heard Chiharu's voice calling for me as I turned to face her, "Girl you made it in second, just barely reaching Shuichi's grades." She said,
