I get up later than usual. I normally only need one alarm, but today I needed three to finally wake up fully, hitting snooze everytime.
My hair is getting too long, my curls standing in weird directions when I wake up. I quickly wet them a bit and comb them down with my fingers. That usually does the trick.
I decide to take some bread with chocolate cream with me and eat it while I walk to school.
During the last period I get nervous. I'm gonna spend my afternoon with Austin. I just hope we can finish the project fast.
When the last period is over I say bye to Carla and Harry and turn to Austin, who seems to be asleep. Perfect.
"Have fun!" Carla giggles and then leaves with Harry.
I sigh. "Hey, uhm Austin?" I ask, standing awkwardly next to him.
"What?" He asks, somewhat annoyed.
I hesitate. Maybe I should just go home and work on the project myself. "Our project. We-" I start, but get cut off by him.
Austin quickly sits upright. "Right, the assignment." He puts his stuff into his backpack, not organizing anything, just dumping everything inside in one motion. "Let's go."
He starts walking out the classroom, not waiting for me.
"Where are we heading?" I ask hesitantly.
He stops in his tracks and turns around. "The library?" He suggests, shrugging.
It's closing in an hour. Should I say something? I decide to just nod and follow him to the library.
"Fuck. It's closing in an hour already?" He scoffs when we are about to enter.
I'm pretty sure that's what I told him last week, but nevermind I guess.
"Maybe an hour is enough?" I ask, knowing that it will take us at least 4 hours to write that stupid paper.
"How much do we need to write again?" He asks, but doesn't wait for my answer. "That's not enough time."
"We can go to my house, I live close." I suggest.
Austin seems to think about it and finally nods, but he does look weird, nervous or something.
We walk silently towards my home. Now he will know where I live. It's not like he really tried to kill someone, right? I mean, it's just some typical highschool rumour. I don't need to be scared of him. No one's gonna murder me.
"How long is it until we're there?" He asks, startling me a bit as we walked silently the past few minutes.
"Like five more minutes." I answer.
"Isn't there a bus we could have taken?" He complains.
"There is, but we already missed it." I explain. The bus is only going my direction once every thirty minutes and it's usually filled with students.
"Okay." He says. "By the way. Your shirt is inside out." He says, not looking at me.
What? I look down to find my sweater put on wrong. It's not just that the back is on the front, but it's also inside out with the label showing. At least the seams and label are both black, so it's not that obvious. Why didn't anyone tell me? I was at school for 8 hours.
"Fuck." I say, not knowing how to fix it now. It now makes sense that Harry and Carla kept making jokes about things being put on wrong. Those fuckers didn't tell me.
"Are you always so confused?" Austin wants to know.
"Do you always sleep during lessons?" I ask annoyed. Wait. I shouldn't have said that.
