"Isn't it a little late for a walk in the fresh air all alone?" He asks me.
Noah. It's Noah.
I feel the same kind of fear I felt when he texted me the pictures he took of me. But multiplicated by a thousand. I'm gonna die here on the side of the road. He's gonna bury my body somewhere in the woods and no one will ever know what happened to me. They'll think I'm somewhere on drugs and they won't search for me and they all will forget about me eventually and I will just be the junkie that disappeared. That's what's going to happen.
How is he here? I'm in the middle of nowhere. Did he follow us here and wait for an hour just in case I'd leave alone? What the hell?
My feet won't move, but I pull out my key from my jacket, holding it in my hand as a weapon. Stupid, I know. That won't help me.
Noah starts laughing as he stops a few steps away from me. He's wearing a baseball cap and a hoodie, like he's trying to hide his face.
Like people do when they're about to commit a terrible crime like killing someone.
"You really are fucking stupid. You do realize it's a little dangerous to walk alone down an empty street in the middle of nowhere at 4 am." He says with an amused tone and then starts laughing. The kind of maniac laughter that makes my hairs stand.
"There are so many dangerous people out there and you poor little thing don't even know how to defend yourself." He says as if he was scolding me, shaking his head. "Tsk, tsk, tsk."
"How the hell did you even know I'm here?" I ask him angrily.
I look past him up the hill. Would the others hear me if I screamed for help now? The bunker is like 500 meters up the hill. Never.
"Looked like you had a little fight with that guy. It also looked like he won't be following you. I wonder how likely it is that someone will hear your screams." He says with his hand on his chin.
The colour from my face is probably completely drained as I stare at him with the most frightened expression I've probably ever worn.
"You asked me how I found you?" He says me with a smile. "Recognize this?" He asks, holding out a phone.
I frown at him. I have no idea what he's trying to tell me. I look around. Maybe there's something I could use as a weapon.
"You're too stupid for the world. You pulled quite a surprise card with the gps data from your phone. Of course not as surprising as manipulating Harry and stealing my fucking laptop, but quite smart." He says. "It's kinda sad that your parents are monitoring your location. Too bad that they have no idea you're here now cause the only phone connected to that app is the one in my hand."
Oh fuck. That's how. He stole my mom's phone. He stole my mom's fucking phone and was stalking my location this whole time.
He chuckles. "The look you're wearing is so fucking funny. I wish you could see it. Here let me take a picture." He says and holds up my mom's phone, actually snapping a picture of me.
And if he's telling me all this now he's not considering letting me leave.
I move my hand into my pocket and unlock my phone inside. I can go to my call log and click on the latest caller, Dylan, without looking at the screen.
"What do you want?" I ask Noah as I feel my phone vibrate, either because Dylan picked up or because I'm sent to his voice box. Please let it be the former.
