Austin ends up staying until 10 and then leaves for work. In the afternoon we have a good old nice family lunch with Mom, Dad, Caleb, Carla and I.

Mom is over friendly like she always is. She talks a lot with Carla. Dad doesn't talk a lot, probably because he's tired.

After eating I have the honour to do another drug test. Same result, weed is still positive and my dad isn't happy about it.

I scratch my head. "I read that it can take a little longer to get out of the system." I tell him.

He purses his lips. "Alright. We have no other option but to believe you."

There would be another option, saliva or blood test. I'm not gonna suggest that though.

I wish I could smoke some weed. It wouldn't make a difference in the test result anyways.

"Thanks for the trust then." I say jokingly.

Dad looks at me through squinted eyes as if he doesn't believe me.

I hold my hands up in defense. "There's no way I could have smoked weed dad. I didn't. You gotta believe me."

"Oh we know, honey." My mom chimes in. "Of course we believe you."

I see them glance at each other, communicating with their eyes. I doubt they believe me. It sucks because for once I'm not even lying and their doubt shows how little trust and faith they have in me.

The weekend goes by quickly. I spend the whole sunday in my room, gaming with Kevin. I missed that a lot. I tell him all about what's happening in my life.

I end up talking to my old friend Daniel, too. I haven't talked to him for half a year.

"We definitely need to hang out." Kevin says.

"Yeah, maybe during christmas break." I suggest.

"Let's do that." Daniel agrees.

Talking to them almost feels like it did back when Jared was alive.

"Are you dating someone, Sammy?" Daniel asks me at some point.

I smile when I think of Austin. So Kevin didn't tell anyone about my sexuality? Now that I'm officially out I don't have to worry about my hometown and old school anymore either, I guess.

"Yep. I got a boyfriend. We've been dating for a month." I tell him.

I hear a gasp. "I had no idea." He says

I chuckle. "Yeah, same. Took some time to realize that." I admit. "What about you?"

"I'm kinda dating someone. Well, not officially, but we've been on a few dates." He explains.

Kevin snickers. "Guess what? He's dating Sandra's step sister. So we can always hang out together."

"Right, Sandra. Are you two a thing yet?" I ask him.

Kevin makes a weird noise that says 'kind of yes, but also kind of no'.

"That means the gang's all taken. Who would have thought?" Kevin says, chuckling.

We've always joked about us all being single all the time. We jokingly said we'd stay virgins forever. A lot changed in the past few months after all.

In the evening I talk to Austin on the phone. He tells me about some jocks at work and I tell him about talking to Daniel again after a long time.

"Did you finish the essay for tomorrow?" He asks me, sighing.
