Monday morning Austin is already at school when I come in. I'm late to class and the teacher gives me an angry look. I hate her, she acts like I killed her cat when I only arrived two minutes late.
"I have an idea." Harry says when I walk past him to get to my seat. "I texted you."
I settle down and look at my phone. He suggests driving to my hometown together on saturday. I can meet up with Kev and he can drive two and a half more hours to his girlfriend and then on sunday he can pick me up again.
He argues that driving for five and a half hours, having company for three hours is way better than driving 4 hours all alone. I can't argue with that logic. It's perfect. Now I only need to convince my parents to let me go.
In the longer break after third period I turn to Austin when I hear him call my name.
I turn around and wait for him to say something. Fuck. He looks so good. He looks so incredibly good. How is it even possible to look so good? His beautiful, straight brown hair and his gorgeous brown eyes.
"Hey, I just wanted to ask if you wanna watch a movie this friday?" He asks me.
Oh my god. Yes. Yes. Yes.
"Yeah, why not? What movie do you wanna watch?" I ask him, trying to hide my over excitement.
Wait. I already made plans with Carla and Harry.
"No wait." I say. "I already have something planned."
"Oh okay. No-" He starts, but Carla interrupts him.
"Sammy, my mom just texted me that she comes to visit on friday, we have to meet up another time." She tells me, obviously lying.
"Oh." I turn back to Austin who looks a bit confused. "That means, I have time." I say awkwardly.
Austin has his eyebrows furrowed. Why does he look like that now? "I mean if you got plans we can hang out another time or not at all." He says, shrugging. "Just forget about it."
"Uhm, no I got time, I wanna hang out." I say, a little too quickly and frantically.
"Cool." He says.
"Do you mean cinema or watch it at home?" I ask him. This missing information could lead to awkward misunderstandings and I don't wanna risk that.
"Oh uh. Could we go to your home? You have a computer, we could stream, right?" He asks hesitantly.
"Yeah, sure." I say, smiling.
"Okay, cool. I'm gonna think of a good movie. You know, an actual good movie, nothing like braveheart." He says and I roll my eyes.
I sit back down on my chair, feeling Carla's eyes on me. Oh god, please don't make it obvious.
"I don't know what to think of my mom coming over. She's gonna stay the whole weekend." She says to me. She looks pale and shocked.
Oh fuck. She wasn't making that one up?
"Oh, why is she even coming?" I ask her carefully.
"Because she's my mother and I haven't seen her for two months." She says sassily.
"Yeah, we get that. But why now?" Harry asks her.
"My aunt told her about me having a boyfriend." She says, hiding her face in her hands. "I don't know why she even told her. I don't wanna see my mom."
"Hey, maybe it's a good idea. I mean as long as her boyfriend doesn't come along? She was supportive before, so maybe she changed back to her sensible self." Harry tries.
