"God, I feel like a mother listening to her son playing his instrument upstairs," I took a sip of my beer.
"Seriously," Shelli chuckled.
Kurt, Krist, and Dave were upstairs practicing for their new record. It sounded good, but very noisy.
Just then, the doorbell rang, so I opened it up and saw Courtney standing there.
"Ew," I slammed the door in her face, and chuckled softly to myself, opened the door back up again, and faked a smile. "Come in."
She walked inside, her high heels clacking against the floor, and sat down on the couch. I shut the door and walked upstairs, knocking on the music room.
"KURT!" I yelled.
"What?" He whipped open the door.
"Someone's here for you."
"Who?"
"You'll see."
We walked downstairs and I heard him sigh as soon as Courtney came into view. She was looking over at Melissa in her little swing.
"This your baby?" She asked Kurt and I.
"Yes," Kurt replied.
"She's precious. Anywhoo, here's Frances. I was late because I had to feed her."
"Got it," He took Frances out of the car seat. "Hey bean. Hey."
She smiled softly, making us all smile.
"See you around, Kurt," She walked out and I locked the door behind her.
"Is she on something?" I asked.
"What?" He was surprised.
"She wasn't being rude; She has to be on something."
"Ruby, maybe she's just trying to be nice because you're going to be in her life as long as you're in mine."
I walked over back to the table and continued to drink my beer.
"Can you watch Frances for a little while while I go up with the guys upstairs?" Kurt handed me Frances.
"Sure," I got up from the table and sat down on the couch.

"We'll be back," Kurt told Krist and Shelli.
"Please help them with the kids," I told Dave. "We'll literally be right back; I swear."
"Don't worry," Dave assured me. "I have everything handled."
I hugged him, then walked to the car with Kurt. "So, we're going to dinner with her, then coming back home with her?"
"Yes," Kurt nodded his head.
"How old is she?"
"Thirty."
"Thirty?"
"Yes."
"Doesn't Frances have a babysitter, though?"
"That's for Frances, though. We need one for Melissa and Lorelai."
"We already have someone to watch them when we go to Brazil, Kurt."
"I get it, Ruby, but what about other times, like when you start working again?"
"Wait, wait, I'm going to be working again?"
