Ivelisse

I quantum tunnel back to Gaeriscelleh. Tonight was unexpected. I decided to check on Naomi and overheard what she and the other Teketa say about the compatibility of reproduction.

Bracus deems us fit for the army. The war is dawning near. We will defeat Netedinark and Teketa. Hopefully, a better race or empire will replace them.

I was on my break from guarding the villages before I left to visit Naomi.

Gods, the pain where Naomi cut me open still lingers, not physically, but mentally. She healed me, but she hurt my heart as well. That can't be fixed.

I got back inside the palace, to the break room with spas, snacks, and more. Blathnaid waited for me there. She is staring deep into my soul with her hands on her hips. She isn't so happy.

"I saw that," she says harshly.

"Saw w'at?" I ask, "Quantum tunnellin'?"

"Right into Teketa territory."

"I was goin' to see Naomi," I explain, "Please don't tell."

"I won't," she says.

"T'ank you," I smile in relief.

"'Cause they already know," she states flatly.

"Ivelisse!" I hear Dominique calling my name from behind. I wince around to see Bracus standing beside Dominique. Both disappointed.

I received a huge lecture from going to the Teketa. What I did was dangerous, and can foil their plans.

I don't know about the plans.

My punishment is being on Bracus's leash for a week. An invisible leash that can be seen by Morphans and he will never lose sight of me. It will be humiliating and... learning? I will try to explain that Naomi attacked me and the whole shebang.

They said they already know. How do they know they weren't even watching?

"Heh, look who's got master's leash," says a female Morphan, Jaica, I think. Her fur is brown with white tips. She is extremely fluffy compared to her other Morphan counterparts. I dreamed of sleeping right by her. Romantic? Maybe. Blanket? More likely.

The Morphans laugh with her, carrying more embarrassment. I already feel more down because I finally got to know Bracus's pack after training with them. And chilling out with them.

"Oh, don't look so sad, Ivelisse, Bracus won't keep it on your forever," she adds in. I am not sure about making fun of me or trying to reassure me.

"Trust me, it's not," Bracus says beside me. I have to come along with him to speak to the city. He is a socially active king that doesn't like to sit in his palace all day. Dominique doesn't mind it, but she is quieter than him. He does most of the talking about the agenda of Gaeriscelleh to the crowd.

I don't say anything. I don't feel the leash, nor do I see it, but Gods if I get too far from Bracus. I am thankful my privacy wasn't revoked. The leash won't act up in the house for the night or break. He knows where I am, but doesn't know what I am doing.

The longer I stay on this leash, the more cat in a cone feeling I've become. The Morphans did stop making fun of me, but unwanted stares continued. Colours are out of my world and being free will repaint it again.

I sip my water near the countertop. It's night and the lights are off. Sugar drinks and sweets are tasteless. I am not in the mood for them for once.

"Hey," Blathnaid comes around the corner, "You're up late."
