Chapter 44

The day after I only worked until the early afternoon at the Agency , Dazai had a full day , which gave me enough time to clean , and set up the cage for my rats .
Last night , when we got home , there was a huge box waiting for me in front of the door of our dorm . I didn't bother to open it then . Just sent a message to Chuuya , thanking him .
I was sitting in the room, opening up the box , but it wasn't the cage and the bench in that I had before . The box contained a new bench for Lily , a new cage for the rats and a bunch of rat and dog toys .
Twistyourgame: Hey , I'm just getting to setting up the stuff for my pets , what is all this you sent me ?

Crushedbygravity:  most of the toys weren't brought here , so they are gone , together with your apartment. And the mice just looked like they needed a new home 😁

Twistyourgame: I see , thanks , how much was all this ? I pay it back.

Crushedbygravity: You are funny .

Twistyourgame: what ?

Crushedbygravity: you are not paying for anything.
Crushedbygravity: !!

Twistyourgame: of course I do . You already did a huge favour taking them in , and getting them back to me .

Crushedbygravity: I wanted to . Don't argue .
Crushedbygravity: I have to go now . Bye ❤️

I am gonna pay for these , I don't like just taking anything. Especially not from someone who is in the Maffia .
I liked him , a lot , a lot more than I like Dazai , but the fact that he is an executive of the Port Maffia , just doesn't sit right with me .
I found myself wondering, if he liked me , or it was just his kind heart for animals ? Ugh , what does it even matter ? It's not like I would ever want to do anything with him . Staying friendly was alright , I have no reason not to , for now . But what if one day the Maffia goes against the Agency again ? Chuuya would kill us all in a second on Mori's orders .
Well , for now it isn't any of my worries .

The coming few days weren't very eventful at the Agency , every day was the same , which gave me a lot of comfort. Not eventful , however doesn't mean it was boring . One of the days for example, Dazai decided to make udon for us at the Agency, except he had no idea how to . Atsushi and me were just standing confused in the kitchen , while the brunette packed out the random stuff he got for the dish .
- Dazai , you have no idea how to make it , do you ? - Tigerboy asked him .
- No , but I have the perfect solution.- He gleamed .
Just like that , Kunikida barged in , fully panicked .
- What happened ? I received a message from Dazai , stating that the Agency is in danger .
- Dazai! - I yelled and punched the bandaged maniac.
- Kunikidaaaaaa , do you know how to make udon ? - He asked the blond man .
- Ugh poor guy - Atsushi mumbled .
Kunikida, being Kunikida, got to work immediately, he chopped up some ingredients and explained the whole process, while his partner taste tested everything.
Tigerboy and me took the opportunity to slip out .
The udon was actually a success , I personally never tried it before , it was indeed perfect for the colder days we had .
Ranpo ,as always went way too overboard while we all ate , he took all the good stuff out , leaving only mochi to us . He just said it's tasteless so he won't eat any of that . We just rolled our eyes , being used to his childish arrogance.
Fukuzawa seeing the scene , was kind of shocked , then just simply disappointed.
- Ranpo is a good person - the President muttered - all humans are good . He is a good person .
- It sounds like he is trying to convince himself - Atsushi whispered to me .
We all loved the detective, regardless his quirks , although at times like this , it was a bit harder to love him .

I enjoyed these times at work , easier jobs , a lot of paperwork, not worrying about dying by the hands of the Maffia , or the Guild .
I also got used to living with Dazai , we haven't had sex since that time in the shower . We never made it awkward either . However , he was pretty much acting not himself at times , I would find him glancing at me at work . He joined me on almost every walk with Lily , or to the grocery store .
Honestly, I didn't give it too much thought , it's Dazai , he is either bored , or has some devious plan in his evil mind .
Well okay , he wasn't that evil , now , I don't know about in his time in the Maffia . I never asked him either about his past . I was interested, but I didn't want to push him , unless he himself wanted to talk about it . Which for now he did not .
Overal everything was just normal in my life , the only little stress I had was about Kyouka , she wasn't officially part of the Agency yet , as she didn't have her test yet . The President decided to give her a few weeks to adjust to this new life , she didn't get any jobs alone yet , only shadowing one of us on ours , and learning how to properly write reports , and fill out paperwork.
Her first actual job was coming up today , she had to deliver some files to a judge . Not a big job , perfect for her as a first .
Atsushi and me were very hyped for her , Kyouka seemed pretty determined.
- Right , I will carry out this mission - She said .
- Are you nervous because it's your first job ? - TigerKittyBoy asked .
- My first job was to infiltrate a building and kill two people- Kyouka replied flatly .
None of us knew what to react to that . So I just gave Kyouka a hug and wished her luck .
- I will do my best - And she left .
- Atsushi, love , can you please tail her ? - I patted the boys head and went back to my desk .
