Hawks was an incredible Hero, who earned his place with his hard work and putting effort in what he did. The popularity came along, which he really didn't mind being recognized by media or having hundreds of fan's freaking out whenever he would show up somewhere- it was rather nice to know people recognize him. It for sure gave his ego a boost, quote a big one at that too. But he wasn't one to get blinded by fame or money or popularity in general. It was nice, but it wasn't something that he couldn't live without.
And while it was nice to just sometimes strike a conversation with one of his fan's, it could also be a nuisance. Don't get him wrong, he loved the attention and the fact that people actually wanted to talk to him, be it a picture or anything else. But being famous and known to the public eye often had it's downs. Like whenever he wanted to go out and have some fun, there was always at least one person that would recognize from a mile away. He was often busy with his work and the moments where he could relax were rather rare. And having them interrupted by a fan were not always pleasant.
Especially when he wasn't alone.

Aizawa put his trust in him, that he would keep Tommy safe and keep an eye on him the whole time they were together. And he did just that. He always had the teen on arm length and within his attention. If he ever wandered away, Hawks would lead him back to where he was and make sure he stayed close.
It was mostly during times when Aizawa would have to stay a little longer on his patrol or of there was a bigger mission that he was included in. And Tommy had no problem with it, because it meant hanging out with someone closer to his age and another avian. Those were times when Tommy didn't even try to hold back his instincts, shift making at least one nest with Hawks whenever he came over. It was like a routine, to just make a nest and watch a movie or shit.
And while Tommy thought nothing much of it, Hawks knew well why they were doing this. It was something both Aizawa and Nedzu came up with weeks ago. The more time Tommy spent with the older, the more used he got to new people. It was also helped him open up more and thus Hawks had a little more idea about what happened previously. They were slowly working they way up to getting Tommy used to new people and different situations.

And probably bringing him to a restaurant in the middle of the day wasn't the brightest idea Hawks ever had. He still could remember what happened when they entered it. The original idea was to just get some coffee and a light dinner before continuing their activity day.

As much as Tommy hated the crowded spaces, he was actually starving when they finally reached the restaurant just by the mall.
He opened the doors and a small bell announced their arrival, which caught the attention of the people in front. Tommy ignored their curious looks the second they landed on him, eyes sweeping the whole restaurant in search of an empty table.
Before he could do that, Hawks nudged him to the side and with his head, he mentioned to a single table right in the corner of the place. Tommy nodded before slipping there. Hawks couldn't help but chuckle, observing the kid carefully make his way towards the table, almost like he tried to blend in with the shadows. He noticed it some time ago that whenever he brought Tommy somewhere he's never been to before, he would move around like on a mine field. It was funny but concerning at the same time-

"What can I help you with today?" A waitress asked, which brought Hawks back to reality.

And as he quickly caught up, both Tommy and the waitress were staring at him in utter silence. He flashed the girl a smile, not missing the way the tips of her ears turned red and she looked away. Either way, he placed his order and she hurried off, Tommy observing her for a second.

"What's up with her?" Tommy asked confused, watching how her figure quickly disappeared behind the counter.

Hawks smiled, placing his hands behind his head and cracking one eye open.
