(13-081 AV --- 4,826 AV) I always think it can't get crazier, but these past couple of weeks proved me wrong.Last entry, I wrote my letter to Alana while we were dealing with her death. Since then, so much has happened. I don't really know where to start, so I'll just start.
I had a conversation with Harriette, first. She showed up at Clark, Michelle, and Devon's apartment while we were all there taking care of Julia. She just knocked on the door. She wanted to make things right and wanted a chance to get to know me. Of course, I had just lost a good friend, so I told her it wasn't the right time. All in all, it could've gone much worse. The major part of it was what followed.
Talking to her made me realize that I needed to tell Eddie the truth about who his father was. It was a hard conversation, but I sat him down and explained it as well as I could. I was terrified the whole time but he took it pretty well. He and I are doing okay and he doesn't seem to see me differently because of it.
Directly following that conversation, Daryl told me that Shane had been different since he started working with Pamela. Daryl was worried Shane might not be on our side. It wasn't that big of a deal at first, but after considering it, I began to agree.
And then we had the mission. Lance sent Aaron, Gabe, and I with a team of soldiers to investigate a group, to try to bring them in. It turned out that he had actually wanted Toby to take them all out since he suspected the group stole a supply convoy. That whole thing went south. A lot of good people died. The silver lining in it was finding Negan, who had been there for months and had gotten married. He also has a kid on the way. Couldn't have predicted that.
We ended up taking out the soldiers and Lance came to investigate. He was suspicious of us for being the only survivors but it didnt really matter. He took us to Hilltop to look for the Riverbend people, and though he clearly knew Maggie was apart of the whole thing, he had no proof. It just kept getting uglier when Shane asked me privately what happened and I didn't tell him the truth. He knew I was lying to his face. On the way home, we stopped to rest in the woods and I ended up talking to Shane about it. It wasn't the ugliest of our fights but it left me really unsure where we stood.
I ended up going back to Hilltop and Maggie and I went after Lance with some others. It turns out that Leah didn't actually die and she ended up hunting us down, dragged me to a cabin and the two of us tried to kill each other. Daryl wound up saving me, killing her. We all took off and met up in the woods with Aaron, Gabe, and Shane. Shane made it clear that he was always on our side and had only taken the job to keep someone in the leader's inner circle. We're okay now, to say the least. We sent him to keep playing his role with Lance while the rest of us tried to hunt Lance down.
An all-out war happened in the streets. We ended up sending Negan to the Commonwealth to warn our people of what was going on. By the end of it, he came back with Mercer, Carol, Shane, and Pamela, and Carol had made a deal that got us back home alive. Pamela would blame Sebastian's crimes on Lance and we'd stay out of it. In return, we got the supplies we need to finish repairs and get back on our feet. We sent Aaron and some others to take it home while we gather our people.
Of course, it couldn't just end there. We had the Founder's festival yesterday, and at first, it was alright. It went south when Max and Eugene played a recording of Sebastian calling the Commonwealth names and basically saying it's all rigged. The crowd went crazy, but the walkers that got in were the bigger deal. I still don't know where they came from, but I know it wasn't a coincidence. In all of that chaos, a walker killed Sebastian, and now, Eugene and Max are in hiding. The rest of us are just hoping to get out alive.
