Camila's POV
Legend had it that living in Tróirwood, a beautiful yet messy city, was full of magic and surprises. They said we would experience things that we never found in other places. We would see a lot of unthinkable things for the first time. We would hear indescribable sounds and mystical voices when we did not want to. We smelled strange scents that we did not have words for. All of these happened because there were not only many people from different backgrounds living here but also many supernatural beings in Tróirwood.
Although this city was mystical, it got the most stunning scenery in all land. Although it could be messy and chaotic due to the crimes, it was the best economic city in the land. Although it was one of the hardest cities in the land, it did not stop people from coming to this city. This city was murderous, mystical, and magical at the same time. Some stayed some left, and some dead. They said we could choose to come, but none could decide whether one could stay, leave or die here.
I hid behind the bookshelves when Lucy showed up. I giggled quietly, looking at her, looking for me. I ran to another side when she was walking closer.
"Mila!" She called me. There were only us and a guy sitting by the corner. Lucy could not care less when the guy was staring at her when she called me louder.
I sat on the floor by the far corner as she was looking for me aisle by aisle. I would not hide from her forever. I knew she would find me. We had to head home soon.
"Mila, let's go!" My best friend, Lucy, asked me to leave our campus soon. She looked out of the window. "Sun is setting soon!"
"Yeah..." I sighed as I wished I could stay longer. I collected my stuff and stuffed them into my backpack before following Lucy out of the library, out of our campus.
"Where's your phone?" Lucy asked me.
"Oh..." I took it out of my brown coat. I saw messages and miscalls from my mother.
"Your mom called me again!" Lucy was my only best friend. Whenever my mother could not reach me, she would call Lucy.
"Sorry!" I felt bad about that because I always missed messages and calls.
"Mila!" She shook her head, smiling. She was used to it. She knew me well and accepted my flaws. She was a great friend.
"I wonder whether we can stay longer one day, or I," I said, sitting on the passenger seat next to Lucy, who was driving.
"Maybe, but not today. You know it's not a good idea. it's a full moon, today!" Lucy said. Lucy believed it was safer to stay home during the full moon. She believed the stories of the city. One of them was the full moon was the time all beings acted weirdly or wildly. Therefore, it was not safe to be outside as a human being, especially the weak ones.
"..." I pouted. I did not want to disagree with her. She would start talking and lecturing me with all her knowledge and experiences as a native of Tróirwood.
People in Tróirwood, human beings, were divided into three groups regardless they were native or not: those who believed the supernatural beings lived among us, those who did not, and those who were in between those two, neutral but skeptical. Lucy was the first one, and I was the latest one.
I was not sure if I believed what Lucy and others believed. She still could not convince me until now that many strange beings, living in this city. I heard the news, and I saw signs, but I never saw them in the news or encounter those supernatural in person. I might not believe their existence, but I believed Lucy meant good. She was just concerned about my safety and wanted to keep me safe. I appreciated that so I was not distressed with her concern.
