Chapter 29: Doing Makeup

*time skip* last day before going back to california*

El's pov

I told max if she wanted to come over to my house before going out with all of our friends and she said yes fortunately

"I can't believe we're actually doing this" max said giggling as I was getting ready to do her makeup.

Max never wears makeup and neither do I. I might just put on some lip gloss. That's why we were just testing makeup on ourselves because we were so bored of doing the same activities

Max's pov

I was sitting on the desk chair as el was sitting on the edge of the bed in front of me getting ready to do my makeup. I don't like wearing makeup to be honest but since el wanted to do each other's makeup for fun I agreed

We wound take it off anyways. As she was about to start she randomly stared at me. I raised an eyebrow.

"what?" I asked giggling. She giggled. "nothing you're just so pretty" she said quietly reaching out to grab something else as I blushed. "you don't need makeup you know that right?" she said softly as she started applying foundation

I blushed even harder, not only because of her compliments but at how close she was to my face making my heart race for some reason. I gulped and then spoke "thank you, you don't need makeup either el" I said as she smiled sweetly and muttered a thank you.

I was surprised she told me that because all my life I've been hearing stuff like "you should wear makeup, you're a girl", "you're an ugly carrot, you should wear makeup" etc.

But I wouldn't because I simply did not want to just like my clothes. Now I'm wearing more girly clothes but not dresses. Even by my family, you all remember all the things they kept calling me as a kid because I was different than other girls

Anyways, El continued for a while my heart was still racing as if it was on marathon or something. "You don't need blush, your cheeks are already slightly pink for some reason" el giggled as she was about to put blush on

I laughed nervously along, not knowing what to say. "I guess" I shrugged. She did a simple makeup, then put on some mascara and then it was time to put on lip gloss

That's when my heart started beating even faster. She leaned closer to my face, her face so concentrated to make sure she's doing it correct as our faces were inches apart.

"and we're done!" she said smiling bopping my nose which she does often and I find it adorable, don't ask why. Then she leaned back up straight as I felt like I could breath again.

"alright let's go take a look in the mirror!" she said excitedly seemingly proud of herself making my heart melt. Before I could say anything she already grabbed my hands pulling ne up and dragging me to the mirror

I looked at myself in the mirror. She did a really great job not gonna lie. I looked at the brunette through the mirror as she excitedly waited for my reaction. I couldn't help but smile, not only because of how good the makeup look was but at her gorgeous face

"So, how is it?!" she asked. "it looks amazing omg!" I said checking myself out. "It looks amazing but you know, I never wore makeup so it feels weird, not because of you-" I said

"I get it max don't worry" she said smiling. "we can take it off though before going to the boys if you want-" el said. We planned on going to hangout with them with makeup on because why would we waste it so why not but now she thinks I've changed my mind

"no, I like it" I said smiling looking at her to assure her. She smiled back in response. "who taught you to do that, it's actually really good I'm impressed" I said. "oh chloe" she said smiling as I proceeded to smile back hiding the pinch of jealousy in me as I ingored it

"alright now is my turn" she said smiling, as she grabbed my hand again dragging me away from the mirror

"Are you sure you want me to do your makeup? I'm not good at it" I said laughing. "yes I'm sure, I don't care if its not going to be perfect I just want to have fun with you, this idea was fun" she said. I smiled and nodded

I've been paying attention to see what she does and how before while she was doing my makeup so I know a few things. She was telling me how to do things during so

I noticed her blushing as well but didn't question it much as my heart was beating fast again at how close we were.

"Come on girls, we have to go!" will said annoyed after we were almost done. He was sitting on his desk chair after he got dressed up and waited for us patiently but now he's gotten impatient suddenly

"Calm down will, we're almost done" el said. Will silently sighed and didn't say anything else. We were already dressed before

*time skip*

We were about 5 minutes late, will was complaining about it during the drive that Joyce gave us since she was at home but we ingored him

The boys were waiting for us at the cafe. They waved at us once we walked into the cafe in order for us to know where they were sitting at and walked towards them and sat down

"Woah, did you do makeup?" Mike asked, not in a mean way. "yeah!!" el said excitedly. I loved seeing her this excited and happy that's why I agreed to do it just to make her funny and look at her beautiful smile

"How so? Max never wears makeup" Mike said raising an eyebrow making me roll my eyes

"that's true and we just did it for fun jeez, it's not like I'm gonna start wearing makeup every day" I said

"just for el huh" Mike said quietly. "what-" I said but lucas said something

"You look beautiful max" lucas suddenly said staring at me. "thanks-" I said.

El's pov

"she looked beautiful before makeup" I cut them off suddenly protective and defensively for no reason

But why? He didn't say anything mean? What's wrong with me. "I'm sorry" I said quietly regretting it as everyone stared at me

"Of course she did, she always looks amazing" lucas said defensively. I felt jealous again. Why am I feeling jealous whenever lucas compliments max or even being near him? I don't like lucas so why do i feel like that

"um thanks" max said awkwardly. "alright lucas stop flirting and come sit down we're gonna order" Dustin said. "I'm not flirting-" lucas said. "yeah yeah whatever" Dustin said. Then we went to order.
