Chapter 39: Back To School Part 1

El's pov

It was the day before going back to school. In california.. Meaning not with our friends. Yes I know I have chloe and Austin but like I said it's not the same even tho I miss them too

I started packing my school bag and everything. As I was shoving pens, high lighters etc in my backpack I noticed something max gave me back in Hawkins

One day she was showing me stuff in her room etc and I found a purple notebook. I don't know if it sounds stupid but we exchanged notebooks, like a diary to write on

For example, max got me a purple one. I remember that I mentioned that my favourite color was purple like the first days we've met and I was surprised she remembered it to be honest, she said that purple isn't really her color but when I got her a purple scrunchie a few days before when we exchanged scrunchies she had it around her wrist all the time after

Anyways, as I was saying, like I would write my thoughts in that notebook and she would do the same with the notebook that I got her. I don't know if it's stupid but we thought it was a cute...friendship idea

I felt tears in my eyes at the thought of max, I already missed her. I thought about how we would be hanging out at that moment but no, I was here in california

I quickly wiped a tear that had fallen without I realised it and shoved the notebook in my backpack.

*time skip, the first day of school after spring break*

It would be nice to know that I would wake up peacefully but instead I heard hopper right next to me trying to wake me up for school

I really didn't miss that... I groaned and opened my eyes. "come on kid, you can't be late on the first day" he said

I sighed and nodded as lifted my head slightly. He stared at me for a second making sure I got up. When he left I immediately fell back on the bed

"El!!" hopper said as he was walk in the hallway and saw me since he left the door open. "I'm upp" I complained as I actually stood up this time.

After I got dressed and everything will and I went downstairs to have breakfast before leaving. I looked over at will. He barely kept his eyes opened just like me

"You two must have some energy come on kids" Joyce said. "how exactly are we supposed to have energy when get woken up so early-" will said sleepy as I nodded in agreement

"okay you'll get used to it just like before but now you must eat before you're late" hopper said. We nodded and continued eating .

*after at school*

We arrived at school. I felt a bit nervous for some reason. It's not like something changed but it's just the feeling I don't know how to explain it

More like a fear of people mocking us again. Will nudged my shoulder. We were standing right in front of the school. "hey, you alright?" he asked softly as he kept his hand on my shoulder

I nodded. "it's gonna be okay, we're together alright? Let's go find chloe and Austin" he said. I nodded and sighed trying to calm down

So many people kind of freaked me out. I mean, not as much as before thanks to my friends in Hawkins and here who made me feel comfortable enough

We walked around the field and we finally found them. They noticed us from afar and they smiled. They both ran to us. Chloe gave me a hug as I hugged back smiling

"oh my god we missed you guys" they both said. I smiled. "we missed you too" will and I said. After we talked a little we walked into the school after the bell rang

After a few minutes while being into the classroom just the teacher having a conversation with the students so not lesson on the first day obviously

Chloe tapped my shoulder as I turned to look at her. "hey, at lunch I wanna hear everything and I'll tell you my news!" she said excitedly. I smiled. "of course!" I said
