chapter 70: Arrested

Max's pov

"alright,I'll call the other cops and we will go there,what time are you supposed to be home?Is Neil going to be there?" hopper asked. "At 12pm and yeah he's at home same with my mom" i said. I was so nervous i thought i would pass out

"okay,there's no need to be scared okay? I will handle it,you won't have to come with us so he doesn't see you" hopper said. "It's not like he can hurt you but i'm sure his reaction isn't going to be the best..." he said quietly as i nodded understanding what he meant.

"what about my mom? She has no idea what's gonna happen in a bit,i want to be there for her" i said. He paused for a second. "Who usually opens the door when someone rings the bell?" he randomly asked. "uhh it depends,usually my mom when she's at home cause Neil is always drunk on the couch..." i said as flashbacks ran through me. El squeezed my hand slightly

"Alright, I'll take you,you will just wait in the car so i will to knock on the door and if your mom opens the door i will explain the situation and she will join you later,sounds good?" he said. I nodded as he smiled sadly

"okay let's go,we're gonna leave in 2 minutes just give me a minute to call the others to come" hopper said as we both nodded. He stood up and went to the living room to speak on the phone

I sighed as if i've been holding my breath this whole time. Suddenly el side hugged me. "It's gonna be okay max,I promise you're safe" she said softly. "will you come?" i asked quietly. She frowned. "yeah of course i will ,i'm not leaving you alone in this" she said as i smiled slightly. "thank you" i said quietly,as she kissed my cheek softly. I blushed slightly and smiled

she always knew how to make me feel better even though i was feeling like shit at that moment. After a little hopper came back,el pulled away her arm away that was wrapped around my shoulder

"alright let's go" he said,we nodded and stood up. "where are you going? I thought you girls joined mike and will" joyce asked confused. The thee of us looked at each other as joyce waited for a response. "oh um,I'll explain later okay?" hopper softly told her. She began to look concerned yet confused but she nodded not wanting to pressure anyone

"are you guys okay?" she asked walking towards us with a concerned look on her face. We nodded,huge lie. "we're gonna explain everything later,i promise but we really have to go" hopper said as he approached her to give her a quick kiss. Joyce smiled and nodded but you could see that she was still quite worried

We then left. I couldn't stop thinking while we were driving to my house. Bad thoughts kept repeating in my head,worried what was going to happen. Is my mom going to hate me? For snitching or mostly relieved.

I knew he couldn't hurt me in jail but that fear is still in me no matter what. Even just by thinking about him triggers me. El sat on the backseat with me. She grabbed my hand to comfort me. I gave her a thankful smile

I don't know what I would do without her. Not only because she told hopper and now I can finally be free but she is always there for me. I really love her,but I don't know how to tell her. We just started dating,it's soon anyways

And..we arrived. My heart stopped,as I also noticed Neil's car,even though I knew he would be at home. So was my mom. "okay,you girls stay in the car,I'll be back" hopper said as we nodded,he got out of the car.

We stared at the scene,waiting to see who would open the door. We were praying my mom would. And she indeed did. I sighed in relief. She looked really confused why the chief was there but deep down happy

Hopper's pov

A second car appeared with another 2 cops.
I knocked on the door and fortunately max's mom opened it and not Neil. I felt so bad for max and her mom of course. "hey,Mrs. Mayfield?" I said. "yes sir" she said confused but concerned
