Chapter 58: We're Back!

Max's pov

It was finally the day!! Mike told us to go at his home for the surprise at around 11 since Joyce told us they would most likely arrive in Hawkins at around 1 pm.

I was so excited that I barely had any sleep. I couldn't stop thinking about the next day, mostly el. But at the same time I felt a bit nervous for some reason

It's been a really long time ever since we saw each other, I hope things will be just like it used to be. I mean, why wouldn't it be? I think I'm overthinking again, bad habit if you asked me, but I can't help it

Anyways, I got out of bed, brushed my teeth etc. Neil was already at work. Same with my mom, Billy was at home but asleep

I wouldn't mind going there by skateboarding since I didn't have anyone to drive me there but the only problem was the gifts, how I would carry them as I skate or ride my bike

Dustin offered me a ride before. At first I said it was okay but his mom insisted saying they would pass by my house anyway on the way so I agreed.

*time skip*

"I'm so excited!!" Dustin said after ringing the bell. "me too!" I said smiling. The door opened and Mike appeared. "Hey guys! Come in" mike

The surprise wouldn't be in the basement, it would be in the living room. Lucas was already there. We all greeted each other etc. Mrs. Wheeler also prepared some food, since it was lunch time.

I mean of course Joyce told us they would go by their house first obviously to set their things down etc.

A few days ago we met up to to the make the sign 'Welcome Back!'.

*time skip*

We saw hopper's car. "get ready quick" lucas said as he was looking out the window and quickly walked away before they catch him

Dustin and lucas would hold the sign as mike and I would stand next to them. Nancy of course was here as well, Robin and Steve.

The bell rang, my heart started beating a bit fast, excited, nervous, happy? I think a mix of all

Mrs. Wheeler went to open h he door. The living room was a bit further of the door so they wouldn't see us right away

We heard them talking, probably the adults hugging each other. Once we heard their footsteps approaching we whispered the count of 3

"Surprise!!!" we all yelled. They slightly flinched for a second but then smiled. The thee boys all ran to will all at once, will didn't know who to hug first at the way they all ran to him as he chuckled

El ran to me as soon as she saw me. She ran and hugged me so fast that I almost lost my balance. "max!" she said excitedly. "hey el!" I said with the same tone

I couldn't stop smiling as we kept hugging each other. I felt thousands of butterflies in my stomach, my skin burning. It were weird feelings... but pleasant

I've never felt like this towards someone. She hugged me tightly as if I would die or something. I hugged back as tight.

After a few more seconds we pulled away. "I missed you so much!" she said smiling. I smiled back. "I missed you so much too, a lot" I said

She smiled and blushed. I blushed once I realised we were still holding each other even though we pulled away from the hug. Her arms were wrapped around my neck and my hands on her waist

Seems like we both realised and let go of each other as we both blushed. After letting the boys have their moment to greet and hug each other will came to me and hugged me. I noticed all of us getting emotional but tried not to cry

"I missed you madmax" he said giggling slightly. "that nickname is kinda old" I chucked. " I missed you too" I said. Then we pulled away.

We then decided to go the basement until the food was ready, the adults went sit on the kitchen table.

"I missed this place" will said smiling as the boys smiled too. "me too" el said as she looked at me for a second smiling. I smiled back. Oh my god her smile, how I missed that smile.. She's so cute

Even her outfit was adorable. She was wearing crop top with slightly baggy jeans. Her hair was still short but slightly longer.

We sat down on the coaches. El sat next to me. My heart was racing. We started talking all of us together

Will and el started telling us about california etc as we did the same etc. El and I kept making eye contact but looked away as soon as we caught each other
