chapter 69: Telling Hopper

Max's pov

I've had so many mixed emotions after what happened. El saw my bruises,we talked,i opened up to her,we both cried. I felt so bad for making her cry..i knew it was because she cares about me but it still hurt

Having someone like el is amazing, I don't know what I would do without her. She makes me happy,strong. She's the reason i'm still here,after everything that's happening at home where all I want to is to die..i think of el. Being with her,her holding me,hugging me,making me smile and happy

*time skip,a few minutes later*

I put a shirt on since it was off because she wanted to see the bruises and i changed into comfortable sweatpants as we both layed down on the bed

my eyes were hurting from crying,I think it's been almost an hour damn. And el was there for me every.single.minute. I couldn't be more grateful. I checked the time,it was 2 am. "oh shit it's 2 am.. I'm sorry for keeping you up I know you don't sleep late-" I said without thinking as el cut me off

"no stop it max" she said softly grabbing my cheek gently making me look at her. "You have no reason to apologize. I would rather not sleep than not comforting you, I would spend hours and hours hearing you talking to me if it means you will feel better" she said softly as I felt myself getting emotional again

"Sure it's been a weird night,many bad emotions but i'm glad it happened because now I know what was happening so I can help you and be there for you" she said as I nodded

"I was gonna tell you eventually I was just not ready.." i admitted. "It's okay,I understand" she said softly as she leaned to kiss my forehead,my heart melted.

"Can you um..not tell the others yet?" I asked nervously. She stared at me for a few seconds before responding. "yeah of course but we will definitely tell hopper max..I know you said you can't but since Neil threatened to kill you that means he's serious and I can't risk that max..for your safety and your mom's" she said

I was so damn scared but I knew she was right. "Yeah but i'm scared he will hurt you too because he knows you're the chief's daughter-" i said. "I'm just going to tell hopper and he will arrest him without expecting it,what is he can't hurt any of us in jail and even if there is a slight possibility of him hurting me I don't care as long as you're safe" she said. I was in shock

"i-el don't say that-I don't want him to hurt you-" I said. "I didn't say he will for sure,sure when he's in jail he'll get immediately who you told and how it happened but I don't care" she said as I nodded knowing she won't change her mind

"thank you el.." I said quietly. "No problem max,I-i love you" she whispered the last part makiny my heart melt

"I love you too" I said smiling softly as she smiled back. We both leaned in for a kiss. After a few seconds we pulled away

"we should go to sleep,tomorrow we'll tell hopper, what time are you supposed to be home tomorrow?" el asked. "uhh 12 pm" i said. "is Neil gonna be home?" she asked. "yeah, unfortunately" I said. She nodded slowly looking away thinking about something

"Okay we will have to leave earlier so hopper pick us up and we can tell him everything before 12" she said as my heart dropped. It was actually going to happen. She must have sensed my swift in mood as she pulled me into a hug. "It's okay,everything is gonna be okay max, hopper is gonna help you" she said rubbing my back as we were hugging

I nodded on her shoulder as I hugged her tighter. After that we went to sleep,well I tried to..I couldn't stop thinking about what happened and certainly what was going to happen. It's probably been an hour already..
