Chapter 48: Exchanging Notes (lumax)

Max's pov

I wasn't sure what to write back. She's your best friend max why are you nervous..? I decided not to write back immediately because I was a bit overwhelmed and didn't know what to write.

*the next day at school*

It was the first period. We had biology. I couldn't stop thinking about the letter el wrote to me. Every single sentence was stuck in my head as I tried to think what to write back

I was zoning out until a note got placed on my desk. I looked to my right. A random person gave it to me. "lucas told me to give it to you" he said smirking. I knew this guy, he's a nice guy compared to other guys in my class

But I knew why he was smirking, cause he thinks the note by lucas is a love letter or something. I just nodded and grabbed it

Luca's note:

Hey max, how are you? And don't say you're fine because it doesn't look like it, you've been zoned out the entire lesson so could you please tell me what's wrong?

I wasn't sure what to say. I just stares at the note thinking. I could feel Luca's eyes on me. I sighed as I grabbed my pen and started writing.

Max's note:

Hey lucas, I'm fine, I'm just tired thanks for asking tho

I told the guy next to me to give it to lucas. Lucas looked at me disappointed and I could tell he wouldn't drop it. He started writing again

Luca's note:

come on max I know something is wrong, I can tell, you can talk to me

sighed again.

Max's note:

I'm just really tired, I didn't sleep much last night

I don't know why I kept lying, I just wasn't in the mood to talk about it. Because it wasn't a big deal anyways I was just being dramatic and I didn't want to worry him for no reason.

I tapped the guy's shoulder again. He stated at me for a second before grabbing the note. I raised an eyebrow at him. "just tell each other that you're in love with each other, im too lazy to keep passing notes" he said slightly laughing.

I rolled my eyes. "we're not in love, we're just friends and I'm sorry about the notes" I said trying to be kind. "okay it's fine" he said.

Luca's note:

There's no way I'm dropping this max, we're friends and I care about you, we'll talk later in person because it's a bit hard by notes, is it about el isn't it?

Okay he knows me a little too well. I just accepted it because I didn't really have a choice to be honest. I looked at him and nodded. "finally" I heard the guy next me mutter to himself.

I stared at him. "sorry" he said quickly for some reason feeling bad. "it's fine I guess" I said not really caring.

The bell rang. "Hey max" lucas said as we were walking in the halls going to meet up with our friends. "yeah?" I asked. "wanna hang out later to talk about it? Because we can't really now because of our friends" he said. I nodded. He smiled

*big time skip*

Lucas told me to go over at his place so we can talk. We didn't tell the boys about this obviously.  I told Neil and my mom that I would go over at Will's because they for some reason and fortunately don't have any problem with him

I had to lie because Neil doesn't like lucas at all because of his skin color and whatever else reason.

I arrived at his home and knocked on the door. A young girl was the one who opened the door. She looked at me up and down and raised an eyebrow at me. It was his sister.

"Um hello? It's like you've seen a ghost" I said sarcastically but slightly scared she won't get my humor. She rolled her eyes. "are you luca's girlfriend cause there's no way he pulled you-" Erica said but lucas suddenly appeared and pushed her

I slightly gasped. "Shut up Erica" he said. "Am I lying? Plus you didn't have to push me you idiot" Erica said as she pushed him. "Stop it kids" luca's mom was heard from inside who apparently heard us

"Anyways, let's go" lucas said. "And we're not dating" he said. "Not surprised-" Erica said as lucas made a movement to attack her but I grabbed his arm stopping him. He looked at me and sighed as Erica looked proud of herself

"Whatever, let's go" he said as we walked inside. I went to greet his mom and then we headed to his room.
