It's been two days since I last saw her since we arrived in Monaco yesterday. I've cut the trip short, we were supposed to go touring the city with Anne but after what happened, Lorenzo suggested that we all just go home and wait there.
I know she called me but all I want right now is to hug her and to be right next to her, I even asked Marck and her dad if they'll let her stay with me. Good thing they all agreed and even Anne agreed.
"Don't fuss, Charles, she'll be here any minute," Arthur said as we waited for her to go out of the building since their plane landed a while ago. "It's so tragic that she had a miscarriage. I already bought the baby clothes."
I just smiled as we are all happy that she was pregnant, I even bought clothes and pillows for the baby. Mom did too and they're all in my apartment. I just put it in one part of the wardrobe and hopefully, she'll never see it because I know she'll break down. But I want to keep it because I know someday we'll use it.
"Bud!" I heard her voice and as I looked at the arrival gate I saw her in a wheelchair being pushed by Marck and my heart dropped. She faintly smiled as I walked to her. "Don't worry, it's just temporary. I walk perfectly fine."
Maybe she saw the glimpse of worry in my eyes that's why she said that. But what caught my eye is the Ferrari sweatshirt that I got her years ago when I first started in F1 under Ferrari. She still has it and she still wears it.
"Dad's orders. Are you sure you want her in your apartment? You could always stay in the house, Charles. Plus, Francesca and Antonio are there to help out." Marck expressed as we stopped at my parked car.
"I want to take care of her Marck. It's the least I could do." I told him as I held on to Anne knowing. "And my mom's apartment is just a block away, if I'm away for Italy, Mom could always stay with her since Anne couldn't travel yet," I explained as Marck nodded.
"Just call me whenever you need something okay? It's just a 20 to 30-minute drive from the house." March said as he patted my back before leaving me with Anne and Arthur.
As soon as Arthur is done helping me with her bags we drove to my apartment and I can see a glimpse of happiness as I held onto her hand while I drive with the other one. When we arrived at my apartment I helped her up and carried her to the couch.
"Thank you," she let out a sigh of relief as finally she can sit down comfortably. "The wheelchair is so hard." She laughed which made my day better.
"You don't know how long I've been waiting for that laugh," I spoke out which made her smile. "I missed it," I muttered as I sat next to her.
"The last time I laughed like that was when I called you before everything happened." she sighed as I know that an unfortunate thing happened to her. if only I was there early. if only I was quick enough to shield her from that punch. "The results are already here."
She said as she leaned against me as she opened her phone.
"It was bound to happen." she sighed as she opened a file and there were the results. "The baby had already passed the night before. It's exactly when we went back to the room after that Mercedes event."
"It's like the baby knew what his dad was doing," I whispered and Anne chuckled.
"Maybe, but it's just sad that I grew to love him. With only just that short period, I pictured my future with the baby. Especially with you." she said as she looked at me while holding my hand.
I smiled as I gently leaned down to kiss her forehead.
"Maman est déjà là." (Mom is already here.) Arthur's voice echoed through the hallway as Anne and I chuckled.
