"Now that you are willing to understand, you have taken the first step to understand."
11.A CHANGE IN RELIGION
EVEN WITH PERCY'S ENTIRE BODY WEIGHT ON ACE, they made it to the store within a matter of minutes. The snakes didn't seem to see the group until they were about sixty feet from the front steps. Frank pulled out his bow to shoot them down while Hazel covered Ace as he dragged Percy along.
When the three got to the top and turned around, it was just in time to see that Frank's bow had disintegrated from a touch of the snake. In a similar fashion to what Ace would have done, Frank ran towards them and leapt onto the steps. Hazel and Ace ready to pull him up.
"We'll never get out of here," he said miserably.
"Then we'd better go in." Hazel pointed to the hand-painted sign over the door: RAINBOW ORGANIC FOODS & LIFESTYLES.
"Worry about safety first, then we worry about leaving." Ace agreed, shifting Percy to be able to hold him better.
They went inside and were covered in darkness for a second before row after row of lights turned on. The light bounced off of stained glass, making the entire store look like it was covered in a hue of rainbow. On the wooden floor were rows of bins and shelves housing food that consisted of organic fruits and veggies, food substitutes, herbs and spices, and lentils. The roof of the store was covered in wind chimes.
Ace found the place oddly comforting. It screamed of Southern California.
"Fortune-teller's shop?" Frank wondered.
"Hope not," Hazel muttered.
Percy shifted some of his weight off of The Son of Apollo, "Sit down... Maybe water."
"Water would be good." Ace agreed.
Frank took the lead and slowly walked through the shop as if he was scared it was a trap and something was going to pop up and kill him. The group hit the granola aisle when a girl jumped up from behind one of the bins.
"Help you?" She asked.
Frank jumped backwards out of fear, knocking one of the two Neptune statues, its marble head coming off and rolling across the floor. Frank profusely apologized and leaned down to start picking up the pieces, but in the process almost stabbed the girl with his spear.
"Eep!" she said. "Hold it! It's okay!"
Hazel pulled Frank back as the girl clapped her hands and the damage disappeared like it was never there. This meant she was either a deity or a powerful demigod.
