"We try to be perfect to meet other people's expectations. But making good choices--I think that's on us. We do good because we see value in good."

NEVER SEEN BEFORE

AS THE HOURS PASSED SLOWLY, Frank and Hazel seemed to get more comfortable around Ace. Whether it be because he let them break every fifteen minutes, or because he kept the conversation going, it didn't much matter.

He learned a little bit more about Frank and Hazel. He learned she was originally from New Orleans and was one of the rare demigods that didn't come by way of Lupa, but instead was brought here by her brother Nico, the ambassador of Pluto who showed up and came whenever he wanted. Most people avoided him. Ace rather liked Nico, he was like a depressing breath of fresh air. He also learned Frank did wish his father was Apollo, and the reason he's so nervous around the older boy was because of that.

Ace wasn't exactly sure what time it was. The sun was over the tunnel, but based on the amount of traffic zooming down the four lanes of highway he imagined the lunch rush hour would be starting soon. That was a good sign, that meant duty would be over in less than two hours.

His eyes were following a Uhaul truck when he saw something odd. On the hill opposite to them something was rushing down it fast. He took a few steps forward and narrowed his eyes. The sun was reflecting off a silver surface, he focused to look past that.

It wasn't something sliding down the hill, it was someone.

They didn't have control of the silver thing they were sliding on and started skidding across the asphalt, magically avoiding all the cars driving down the road. They managed to steer off the side and into a pile of bushes.

"You two see that too right?" Ace asked, not taking his eyes off the bushes.

"I don't know how you can see anything, the sun is so bright." Frank complained.

What Ace could tell was now a boy, stuck his head out of the bushes and looked over back at the hill intently. Ace could see him a little better now, he was a teenager not a kid, with dark brown, almost black hair and skin with tan that made him look like he spent all his time at the beach.
