The Legion Never Backs Down

AS THEY RODE DOWN THE HILL AT FULL SPEED, It almost felt like a snail's pace to what they had been doing for the last four hours. However, it gave Ace the time to realize that he had never been in a situation like this.

In the legion they had gone over war strategies like they were their job. What to do if camp ever did get attacked. It had felt, up until this moment, like the legion was invincible. They knew how to defend their home like the back of their hand. Now that it was actually happening, the daunting realization hit Ace as he pulled out his first imperial gold arrow and nocked it in his bow. If their small band of reinforcements didn't work. The battle would be lost.

Ace looked at what was ahead of them. Hazel and Tyson had gone first. Her on Arion, running at a normal speed, Tyson on foot yelling loud enough any monster would think twice before trying to take him on. Frank was next. He turned into a bald eagle and took off from the hill going to do a complete scout before popping in wherever they needed him. Ace had to agree with Percy, Frank's gift was incredible. This left Percy and Ace. The latter climbed into the chariot as the later mounted Mrs.O'Leary with the ease that it takes Ace to hop up on Skylar's bunk.

They came in hot. Around the perimeter and over the bridge that lay across the Little Tiber, which took them directly into the action which had been mostly contained to the field of Mars. They passed through the wall of centaurs with ease. With the help of a few of Ace arrows brilliantly slicing through some of their necks. Ace could see the remains of his cohort fighting them as best they could. Out in front of it all was little Liam, who sliced off a leg with a ferocious yell.

"Second!" Ace called, as loud as he could muster. "Do what you can! If you need to come get the imperial weapons! Then Fall back to the Eagle."

Ace's voice seemed to startle most of them. Those who recognized it popped up. Ace's name could be heard in the form of a question as heads started to look around for him.

"ACE!" Liam called as he pointed at the centurion, noticing that Ace was indeed with them. His face lit up with elation before it dropped as he blocked a blow from a spear. Ace couldn't yell anymore, they had traveled too far and the cohort wouldn't hear him.

"Percy!" Ace called, the boy turned his head slightly to indicate he was listening. "This my stop! Good luck, brother!"

"Kick some ass for me!" Percy called.
