"None of us knows what might happen even the next minute, yet still we go forward. Because we trust. Because we have faith."

The Kind of Bonding You Wouldn't Find Elsewhere

THEY SAT IN SILENCE FOR A WHILE.

Percy was determined to try and get comfortable although his body wasn't letting him. Anytime the plane veered even a little of the straight course, he was right back up with wide eyes.

Something told Ace he wasn't just scared of flying. He really wasn't supposed to be on a plane.

Hazel was consoling Frank with soft words. Telling him he did everything he could for his grandmother, that he was amazing in the fight. All of which was true. Although, he still kept his head buried to prevent us from seeing the tears escape. He didn't realize none of them would even think about calling him out on it, he had been through more in the last few days than any of his friends could fathom.

After letting his body physically calm down, Ace cleaned his glasses and then pulled out his book. Letting everyone else do their own thing for a while. He let the words create Intricate stories in his mind.

That was until something he read triggered the memories from last night's dreams to come flooding back to him. Then suddenly the giant lava spewing volcano shifted back into black words on a beige page. Ace sighed with defeat and put his book back in his bag at the same time Percy decided to speak up.

"Frank," he said, "I'm proud to be related to you."

Frank didn't look up, but his ears turned pink from embarrassment.

"Juno has some sort of plan for us, about the Prophecy of the Nine." Frank spoke, muffled.

"Yeah," Percy grumbled. "I didn't like her as Hera. I don't like her any better than Juno."

His words took a minute to process in Ace's head. When he realized what Percy said, he lifted his head and chuckled. Ace had suggested they should have a share time next free moment they had. He was glad he wasn't the one that had to initiate it.

"You're a son of Poseidon, aren't you?" Hazel asked. "You are a Greek demigod."

The air around her words was nothing but absolute calm. She had been the literal rock for all of them on this quest despite being the youngest and having the most history. Ace envied her to an extent. Facing her past with such determination, wanting to fix what she had wronged. Ace didn't know many people willing to go through such great lengths.

Percy's fingers wrapped around the beads on his necklace. It was something he had done multiple times before, but this time he gripped onto them like it was his lifeline. "Like I said, I started to remember in Portland, after the gorgon's blood. It's been coming back to me slowly since then. There's another camp—Camp Half-Blood."
