MORE THAN SHE BARGAINED FOR

JASON AND ANNABETH shared a very confused look. Arya, however, rolled her eyes and summoned her daggers into her hand.

"I told him not to do anything stupid." Arya grumbled pushing past the hoard of campers.

It wasn't exactly hard to find the dragon. Not only was it a twenty foot, bronze, fire-breathing machine with a scrawny fifteen year old on its back, but it was also surrounded in a ring by the camp's best ranged weapons specialists.

Leo had his hands up in surrender, a proud yet goofy smile spread across his face as he called out to everyone to lower the weapons. The dragon itself was growing uneasy and reared its head up to the sky and blew a column of fire causing the campers to back away nervously.

It was then Arya noticed that the dragon now had wings attached to its back. Something that definitely wasn't there when she was on its back earlier. It had only been a few hours, how had Leo had time to accomplish something that should have taken days, and so expertly as well?

Arya made my way through the crowd, a couple voices meekly tried to warn her. She promptly ignored them.

"That thing is dangerous!" Someone called from the crowd. "Kill it!"

"Stand down!" Jason called from behind the mass. The kids parted and Jason made his way to the front followed by Annabeth and Nyssa. "Leo, what did you do?"

Arya made her way slowly up to Festus, holding her hand out as a sign of peace. It took a few seconds for the scared dragon to recognize her. When he did, his snout bent down and met her hand.

"When I said not to do anything stupid, that Included flying the dragon into the middle of camp without warning." Arya said, eyes firmly on Leo.

He shrugged with a sheepish smile. "Sorry chica, I figured I might as well rip the band-aid clean off."

She didn't appreciate being called chica, but she did enjoy Leo's charisma so she was going to let this one slide.

While Arya talked the rest of camp into lowering their weapons (they're much more inclined to listen to a seasoned veteran like her compared to a fifteen year old, overly excited, newbee), Leo was off making excuses for how exactly he found the dragon and attacked the wings.

"You named him Festus? You know that in Latin, 'festus' means 'happy'? You want us to ride off to save the world on Happy the Dragon?"

"That sounds about right." Arya agreed, making her way back over to the rest of them.
