Bromance Solidified

ACE NEVER FULLY LOST CONSCIOUSNESS. But his senses were completely dampened. He felt his body moving. He felt his body go from being submerged to laying on an ice cold surface. Then he felt the water inside his lungs start to pull up his throat against his will.

He coughed. Feeling the water still not out of his mouth, he turned to the side and hacked up his lungs until the water stopped coming up and the burning sensation was tolerable.

"Oh thank the gods." Percy said. He was on his knees, one arm set on the ice that Ace was laying on. The other patted his back to help the water leave. "I've never tried pulling water out of someone before."

Ace finished his coughing and held his thumb up, unable to talk yet. Then, at the same time. Percy and Ace both gave in. The boys fell onto their backs on the ice, their arms spread eagle. Percy's left arm over Ace's right one. Neither of them filled with near enough energy to care enough to move them. Their heads stayed neutral, staring up at the clear blue sky. Taking in the calm of the moment. Ace felt a small smile tug on his lips as he watched some birds fly over.

Ace was shaking from the cold. He hadn't been cold in so long. He had never actually expelled all the heat leave his body like that before. It physically hurt. His muscles and bones were so used to being warm all the time that the cold was a shock to them. As he shivered in an attempt to regain body strength Ace's muscles felt as though they were pulling in on themselves.

He hoped it wouldn't last long. The sun was still out and his heat stores would refill if he hadn't ruined them. Until then he would just have to suffer.

"Have your lips ever been blue?" Percy asked.

Ace's left hand went up, and he touched his lips hesitantly. Nothing felt different but then again his whole body felt numb at the moment.

"No." His voice cracked. "A good look?"

Percy turned his head to look at him and vise versa. "I wouldn't go out and buy blue lipstick if that's what you're asking."

Then they both busted up with laughter. If anyone were to see us, they would probably think we were crazy. Ace would tell them to fuck off. With what they just went through, anyone would be willing to take a minute to laugh as jokes as you recovered on a pile of ice.
