A Glimpse Into the Past and Future

ACE FELT NAUSEOUS. Though it wasn't due to the sixty miles journey on horseback that climaxed with the beast running directly up the side of the glacier and dropping the group off on their future battlefield.

No. What really did him in was the replica of Camp Jupiter that had been set up. The only differences between this one and the one that Ace called home was the fact that this one looked like it had been hit with a harsh winter storm. The other jarring difference was the blue flags that hung from the watchtowers. Looking at it was like something out of a nightmare, the future if they didn't free Thanatos, soon.

They all readied their weapons as they stood outside the ice camps gates. Not a single person could be seen. If the place was even manned by people.

"That's a trap if I've ever seen one." Ace said low. His words bouncing off the glacier walls

As they took a few steps forward to get the feel of the ice. Ace nocked a regular arrow, his fingers tugging back on the bow string ready for anything that might pop out. His eyes were darting in every direction possible looking for anything out of the ordinary. Physically traps or hidden weapons ready to fire on them. He saw nothing.

When they reached the gates. Hazel saw it first.

"Thanatos," Hazel murmured.

Ace looked ahead and sure enough, bound in the crossroads where the fake principalis lay, the death-god was chained with his black hood up. Even from their distance he could feel the power. It was unlike any other god Ace had met so far. A part of him wanted to go up and willingly surrender himself to the entity and offer his soul.

It was a dark thought, that Ace would be okay with never feeling again.

Hazel took the lead, having the best chance to take things down on Arions backs. Percy and Ace took the flanks diagonally behind her on either side. Frank took the boys' sixes. Ace kept his gaze forward on Thanatos as they walked. It wasn't an easy thing to do, but he preferred feeling his own death by looking at him, than the death of his friends that came when he looked at the ghost town of a camp that was surrounding them.
