"As the years pass, friendships get older but as long as some them have free time to listen to each other, they become closer."

Saving Grace

ARYA WAS ON HER FEET, but it was not for the same reasons as before. She quickly slipped on her shirt and summoned her trident into her hands. Jason's sword appeared, and Leo pulled out a hammer. Piper tried to stand but she was still very out of it.

Jason told her to stay still, they would protect her. Arya knew he could have used different words. As a girl herself, Arya would have hated a group of people telling her they needed to protect her. The time for nitpicking was later.

She moved to the front of the group, her trident ready to attack as the glowing eyes appeared. She tried to stay confident. Lit and Midas had said the Hunters had stopped by and she knew from experience they have been known to travel with wolves.

Arya's confidence only faltered when a handful of large Great Danes, made themselves apparent as the firelight shone enough light on them. The Hunters wolves weren't nearly as big, and were never this far away from the Hunters themselves. Arya took a step back when they snarled, baring their fangs. Jason stepped forward. The two of them now shoulder to shoulder.

He spoke Latin to them. A language Arya didn't realize someone could be fluent in. The Alpha wolf listened and when a beta tried to snap at Arya, the Alpha bit his ear and dragged them back. Jason's arm now over Arya's chest like a soccer mom, ready to push her back if needed. The group backed up, leaving the light of the fire. Jason's arm lowered. Their breathing loud.

The calm only lasted a few seconds before the wolves came back, right outside the cave entrance, forming a semi-circle. The Alpha no longer with them.

"Stick together," Jason said. "They respect a pack. And Hedge, no crazy stuff. We're not leaving you or anyone else behind."

That plan, Arya could get behind. Her eyes focused on a silhouette of a man walking back through the pack. When he was visible, the sight made the Daughter of Poseidon uncomfortable. His hair was long and knotted like he had been in a windstorm for days. He had a crown of bones that looked oddly human, but Arya was optimistic that maybe some other creatures had similar fingers to humans. His cloak was made of various animal hides all sewn together hastily, about as good as her arm sleeve had just been sewn back on. She bet with one pull she could cause the whole thing to fall to pieces. His eyes were glowing red, matching the Alpha wolf's eyes.
