CAMPFIRE SONGS

DINNER WAS BAD when it came to everything feeling different, the campfire was so much worse.

It looked like a concert hall, double the amount of benches sitting around the fire, which was higher than Arya had personally seen in a long time. For a second she was excited to sit around and get back into the old habits of listening to everyone else sing while shhe made fun of them, but secretly enjoying the sounds of silly team comradery. Yet, as her feet carried her from her table to the fire, Arya fell to the back of the pack and eventually her feet stopped altogether, unable to go any farther.

Instead she found herself leaning up against one of the trees to the far left of the campfire, out of everyone's sights, enjoying things best she could from a distance.

Distance was good.

Arya still cringed at the out of tune singing, the Ares and Hermes cabin getting into a battle for who could sing louder, or more annoying, she wasn't sure. A figure appeared to Arya's right, taking in the scene before her.

She was one of the other campers brought along with Jason, they had mentioned her name was Piper, the one who passed out when Hera talked through Rachel.

Arya's first thought was that the girl was naturally beautiful, she was a little taller than average, with her brown hair hacked away like it had been done on purpose. It still looked better than when Arya sliced through her own hair a few years ago before it was fixed by....

Piper, Arya had pulled the name from some memory. Piper had sharp features that were captivating. If she was able to hold herself with more confidence she would radiate power.

It made Arya wonder who her parent was.

The black haired teenager pushed herself off the tree and made my way over to Piper. They looked at each other for a moment, if Piper was scared, she gave no indication.

"Once you jump in it's not as bad as it seems." Arya joked.

Piper nodded like she had figured, "It's just a little overwhelming."

They both cringed as both the Ares and Hermes campers attempted to hit high notes too far out of their ranges.

"Everything here is a little overwhelming." Arya told her honestly. She had toured enough new demigods to know that camp was a lot to process the first few days. "But you'll get used to it, and I don't know if you have a home or anything, but if not, Camp will turn into one for you."
