"This is our family's tragedy, and we each play a part in the suffering. By sharing it, we can survive it, because we subconsciously remind one another that one day soon, this will end, and we'll still be standing side by side."

An Irrational Yet Rational Fear of the Water

ARYA HAD NEVER BEEN TO AN AQUARIUM and she wasn't sure that she liked it. The glass was preventing her from being able to talk to any of the creatures and even though they seemed content, any enclosed space was going to seem small compared to the vast ocean where they should be.

They got to the whale sharks and Kate insisted they keep following her to the real exhibits. She took the trio through a tunnel that claimed to be under construction and they came out in one of those glass tubes that walked through the water. Above them were sea-creatures that had never, and probably would never, be found by mortals.

It was here Kate started to show her true colors, she seemed to know anything and everything about the sea creatures they were keeping captive. Captive being the key word. These creatures, Arya and Percy should have been able to talk to but every single eye in the house was glazed over and unresponsive. They were being forced into this submission

Arya felt the unwavering glare set on her face.

Out of the darkness scurries a crab like man with pincers and four legs that aided his movement. Arya did particularly like to look at him but she forced herself to anyway in case he was the one that decided to attack.

Phorcys was his name, and Kate was actually Keto, his sister. He had sided with the titans in the war and the Atlanta aquarium was his punishment. He was trying to create a show but there didn't seem to be an ethical problem on drugged mythological creatures.

"So..." Percy managed. "Dionysus sent us here."

"Bacchus," Frank corrected.

"Right. The wine god. Whatever." Percy expressed Arya's annoyance, "Bacchus said you might know what your mom Gaea is up to, and these twin giant brothers of yours—Ephialtes and Otis. And if you happen to know anything about this Mark of Athena—"

"Bacchus thought I would help you?" Phorcys asked.

"Well, yeah," Percy said. "I mean, you're Phorcys. Everybody talks about you."

"They do?" Phorcys asked with far more interest than was tasteful.

"Of course. Don't they, Frank?"

"Oh...sure!" Frank said. "People talk about you all the time."
