The Other Half

"WHAT DOES THAT MEAN EXACTLY" Cato asked in a hasty whisper as they fell into line to file into the senate meeting.

"It means that we learned on our quest that Gaia is rising. Coming to overthrow the gods and us with it. Half of the nine are Greeks, coming from another camp like ours."

Cato shook his head as they walked through the doors. Ace knew he dropped a bombshell on his brother.

"How do you know? I mean this quest has been around for centuries. Micheal-"

"To make a long story short." Ace cut off his brother's rare rambling, "We were told by the gods directly. Those giants we faced were hers. Every enemy we faced was working for her. Juno came to Percy, Mars went to Frank, and Apollo came to me."

"Apollo?"

"It's not worth recounting." Ace waved off knowing that they only had a few more moments.

"You can't just drop this on me and expect me to just accept it without questions. Why didn't you say anything until right now?"

They filed into their seats and waited for Reyna and Percy to give the signal to sit.

"I didn't realize I was one of the Nine until last night, why would I be?" Ace said, "Percy gave me the chance to say no this morning."

Cato broke his stance to look at his brother, breaking protocol in pure disbelief, "And you didn't take him up on it?"

"I couldn't. Not knowing what I know."

Reyna called the meeting to order and the chance for questions was over.

Ace had so much more to fill his brother in on and would, later. Ace just didn't want Cato to be blindsided during this meeting. Maybe he made things worse, it wasn't clear. Ace didn't get a chance to share exactly how big of a threat this was to them, their family history, or even why the Greeks were involved.

Later, he would have time later.

Percy made his case. Although, he wasn't exactly asking the legion for permission. He was telling them.

Ace could tell by the uneasy shifts they didn't know what to think. They were inclined to believe the boy who had been raised on a shield to be the new preator. But he was telling them something unheard of.
