Lessons in Respect

"LEO IS ON CALYPSO'S ISLAND."

Arya had been gone a total of fifteen minutes. No one could figure out exactly why she had gone in the water other than just general anger at Jason for opposing ethical viewpoints. Then suddenly, she was standing back on deck, as if she was a goddess who just appeared to give them this information.

Of course the news sent any previous feelings flying out the window like they never mattered in the first place. In the grand scheme of things, they didn't. Not when one of their primary questions now magically had an answer.

"How did you figure that out?" Piper asked.

Arya looked reluctant to share the answer, "My father, in not so many words."

Ace was glad he wasn't the only one seemingly surprised by this answer. He had been under the impression that Arya avoided her father at all costs.

"Who's Calypso?" Frank asked.

"A daughter of Atlas." Ace said, feeling for the first time in days he could actually be of use, "She was exiled to an island that remains her home. Her punishment is that she gets sent heroes on their deathbeds to nurse back to health."

"Deathbed implies that he almost died." Jason piped in.

"Khione probably tried to kill him." Nico said as if that was obvious information.

"What am I missing?" Frank asked, "There's no way this girl just nurses them back to health and sends them on their way? Right?"

"Kind of." Ace shrugged, "She falls in love with them. The heroes are always destined to leave her though. It's her curse."

"A curse that was both placed on her unfairly and supposed to be taken off." Arya added with a sharp tone. Both things Ace had never heard, "Calypso did nothing wrong, she was given the punishment for her fathers misdeeds. Percy bargained for her freedom after the Battle of New York and the gods gave it. Of course they wouldn't follow through."

"Why would Percy bargain for her?" Hazel asked.

"He ended up there after waking Typhon by causing a volcano to explode. He spent two weeks with her, and while he never fell in love with her, he never really got over the guilt of leaving her." Arya said.

"Two weeks is a long time." Piper said, "This could all be over in two weeks."

"The important thing is that he's alive and we know that he'll come back to us." Jason said. "We can focus on getting out of here."
