A Montage of Repairs

ARYA WAS EVENTUALLY CONVINCED TO SLEEP and she did for the first few hours of the early morning. Until she was woken up by nightmares that had her dry heaving over the sink.

At least it was a few more hours that she was planning on getting. Which was a good thing, she guessed. Ace would tell her it was a good thing anyway.

She wasn't the first one up, but she wasn't the last. Hazel was finishing labeling the control panel in hand writing that they could actually read rather than Leo's scribble. Jason was talking to wind spirits trying to come up with a plan for how to reattach the mast and make it secure.

A few other wind spirits were dropping off materials for the rest of the hull.

"One step at a time." She whispered to herself.

The first thing she did was wrap her hand.

Ace had inspected it fully in the early morning light. He seemed pretty confident that with some healing prayers it would be safely healed within a few days. Two main causes for concern; Nerve damage, she couldn't really feel or move her pinky and middle finger. The other was stiff skin, the new layers that would build up wouldn't be used to bending like her old skin had been so used too. She would have made sure she used the hand often even if it was painful.

Working through pain was something she had mastered long ago.

Even this morning it looked better. No longer a deep hole that pumped blood to nowhere and has skin that doesn't connect. Everything was back and together, only in a few layers, and it was tender as all hades.

She spent the morning sewing up the sail. Both Piper and Frank joined her when they woke up, and by the time lunch time rolled around, it was done.

The first thing checked off the list.

Right around when they got the flag done, Jason was called back by the wind god. He went by himself, not wanting to take anyone out of their working groove. Everyone was surprised when he came back in less than a half hour.

He explained that the god had been in his Roman form today. Everyone aboard had known what that meant. The god wasn't happy that Jason couldn't give him an exact timeframe and accused him of taking advantage of his hospitality.

Arya found herself glad she hadn't been in the throne room. She knew Jason had been far better at handling the situation than she would have been.

It couldn't have been a coincidence that the wind spirits started to taper off as the hours passed.
