The girls and I were in my Slytherin bedroom. We had finished unpacking from Christmas Break and decided to do our gift exchange.  We gathered on the plush green rug in the middle of my room, each holding a carefully wrapped gift. My black kitten, Midnight, crawled curiously around the room, her green eyes wide with wonder as she inspected our belongings.

"Alright, let's start the gift exchange," I said, excited. I reached for my present, wrapped in dragon-patterned paper, and handed it to Daphne. "This one's for you."

"Thanks!" She beamed, tearing open the wrapping to reveal a thick book titled 'Dragons and Snakes: A Comprehensive Guide.' "Oh, this is amazing! I've always been fascinated by these creatures. How did you know?"

I grinned, remembering the many conversations we'd shared about creatures. "Just a hunch," I replied

"Here, Pansy," Daphne said, passing her own gift to Pansy, whose hair was in a tiny ponytail on the nape of her neck. The large hoodie, wrapped in silver paper, was almost too big for her. Pansy's eyes sparkled as she unfolded the oversized hoodie. "It's perfect, Daphne. You know how much I love to feel cozy while studying. Thank you!"

"Your turn, Pansy," Hermione smiled at her

Pansy smiled kindly. I knew Pansy had finally let Hermione in not only for me but for her as well. Apparently Hermione and her texted a bit over the break and got closer. She presented Hermione with a wrapped book. "I hope you enjoy this as much as I have."

"Thank you." Hermione unwrapped the book to reveal 'A History of Magic: The Untold Stories,' and her face lit up "This looks incredible, Pansy! I can't wait to dive into it."

"Tracey, this is for you," Hermione said, handing her a small package wrapped in gold. Inside was a plush stuffed animal – a majestic phoenix with shimmering red and gold feathers.

"Aw, it's so cute! Thank you, Hermione!" Tracey gushed, hugging the soft toy close to her chest.

Finally, it was my turn to receive a gift. Tracey handed me a blue-wrapped book with a wide grin. "I hope you like it."

As I tore off the wrapping, I couldn't help but smile when I saw the title 'Learning Languages' It was a very thick book and I opened it up to see every language ever known"This is fantastic, Tracey! You know how much I love learning languages. Thank you!"

"Y/n are you excited for the Valentines day roses?" asked Tracey as we walked to the Great Hall for lunch after double transfiguration

"I don't expect to get one but it will be nice seeing other people getting some,"  I told her

"Oh please. Have you not seen all that look at you?"said Pansy

"Girl I am only 12," I rolled my eyes,"Besides boys are stupid most of the time,"

"True that," said Tracey laughing with Daphne as we walked to our seat at the Slytherin tables

I noticed the heads of houses were passing out the valentines roses off of a cart. Sprout was placing them into Hufflepuff students hair. Flitwick charms them so they would fly to each Ravenclaw student who got one. McGonagall had transfigured the roses into little animals to walk along the table and go to each student once the 'animal' reached the student it turned into roses. Snape just walked down the table handing roses angerly to each student who got one.

I loaded my plate,"This is so stupid," said Mattheo sitting next to me

"I'm glad we agree that you're stupid," I said looking at him. The girls giggled and the boys laughed
