Artemis POV

The warehouse is more lively than it was when I first left. Everyone is here either working out or training. There isn't a soul in sight not doing anything productive

"Hey, Artemis" I turn my head toward the voice

Emerald Russo. Wonder what she wants now

"What?" I ask

"Can I have a word?" She asks. I turn away from the windows that look out towards the warehouse to look at Emerald.

She's nicely dressed today: wearing a black pantsuit and red bottom heels.

"What can I help you with?"

"I got a call from Detective Aspen, Gerald had a meltdown today"

"Mhm" I mumble, knowing the cause of said meltdown

"He also told me that they have a court date ready and I should come to the court to sign off." She says

I close my eyes, listening to the sound of people punching the punching bags and Emerald's low raspy breathing.

"What is the court date?" I know it'll be soon, so should I even tell her that she shouldn't be wasting her time or just let her do whatever? Even if that means Gerald will go to a psych hospital

"In a week from now," she mutters, sounding defeated.

"Then you should be getting ready for the fight of your life and career"

"Yeah, I should. I thought I'd just drop by and tell you. I'll be at the law firm preparing for this if you need me. Whatever plea I decide will be best I'll let you!" She walks out, giving a small pat on my lower back before leaving

I know pleading guilty or even not guilty won't be best. All evidence points to him doing it. The media believes he did it and it's worse because it was a teenage girl who had her whole life ahead of her. So if she were to plead not guilty the whole world would be in an uproar, for good reason though.

Maybe finding a witness or even an alibi would be best. I'll tell Emerald she should have some people look into finding something of the sort.

"Artemis!" I look away from the windows again to see Miles walking in with someone standing behind him but I can't quite see who

"Yes, Miles," I say, turning back to face the windows

"You have two visitors. They said you'd be expecting them" expecting them? Who am I supposed to be expecting

"Let them in," I say, turning to walk towards my desk "And bring me a hot cup of tea please." Once I sit down at my desk the door opens wider and my two guesses walk-in

Adrianna and Shawn Sage. Shawn looks out of it like he's high on multiple different drugs. The blood-thirst drug shouldn't have him looking like this. He should look normal but not feel normal.

"Hi, Artemis. I tried calling you to see if it was okay to bring him-"

"Just have a seat," I say, cutting her off. Adrianna sits down in the right chair in front of my desk, she ushers Shawn to do the same. Sitting in the left chair, right next to her
