Danny shook away his nerves and slowly turned the knob, only for his fear to resurface once he saw his enraged father standing before him. Tightening his hold on Ryder's hand, he returned the gesture, flashing him a small smile to show him that everything would be okay. Letting out an exasperated sigh, Danny moved aside to let his father in, and that was his first mistake. In the blink of an eye, his father raised his hand and struck him across the face, leaving him momentarily stunned. Danny choked back tears as he felt the sting of the slap against his cheek
"This is your fault! Your mother's lying in a hospital bed because of you!" Brett screamed
"What the fuck is your problem?!" Ryder shrieked, immediately tending to Danny
"I thought sending you to this school would make you better. Instead, it's made you sicker, filled your head with all types of nonsense." Brett scoffed
"Get the hell out of here." Ryder balled up his fists
"The last thing I need is the son of a mentally unstable tramp breathing down my neck. If you know what's good for you, back off before you end up in the Looney bin with your mother." Brett snapped
"Dad, stop it!" Danny shouted, standing in front of Ryder to shield him from his father's wrath
"You think you're hot stuff, don't you? Parading around here acting like you're one of the boys, but I know the truth. The truth is, you're still that same little girl who used to come home and cry to me about how insufferable boys were. Now look at you, trying to blend in with the crowd. What do you think people will say about you, Danielle? Especially now that you're letting the son of a psychotic bitch in your pants!" Brett shrieked
"That's rich coming from the guy who slept with his secretary, and then lied to mom about it for months." Danny snapped
As Brett's temper flared, he raised his hand to strike Danny once more. However, before he could, a familiar figure intervened, forcefully pushing Brett into the desk behind him. Danny's vision cleared and he gasped at the sight of his older sister standing in front of him. Without a hint of hesitation, Luna immediately embraced him, tousling his hair and showering him with kisses while holding him tightly. The siblings fell to the floor, both crying uncontrollably in each other's warm embrace
"It's alright, I'm here. Your sister's here." Luna comforted him
"Luna." Danny wept
"I'm right here, little brother." Luna teared up
"I'm so sorry, I'm sorry for everything." Danny sobbed
"It's not your fault, okay? None of this is your fault." Luna softly says
"I'm sorry for being such a huge disappointment. All I ever wanted was to make you guys proud." Danny sniffled
"You've already made us proud, Danny. Hell, every chance I get, I tell everyone I know that I have an annoying little brother who's insanely talented in the form of arts. I'm proud of you, and so is mom. Regardless, we love and support you. That's all that matters." Luna says
Helping him up off the floor, Luna immediately pushed the two boys behind her, ready to meet her enraged father's wrath if needed. Growling in a fit of rage, Brett cowered over the terrified teenagers, who were holding onto each other's hands to calm themselves down, refusing to show him any signs of weakness
"You ungrateful bitch! I gave you life and this is how you repay me?!" Brett yelled
"Technically, mom gave me life. You didn't really contribute much during both her pregnancies. I guess you were too busy looking up other women's skirts to even care." Luna snapped
