The next morning, Jake woke up to the sounds of knocking on his door. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he stretches before getting up to answer the door. The grogginess he felt soon left his body once he locked eyes with Blair, who was fiddling with a charm bracelet on her wrist. When she met his gaze, her caramel brown eyes widened in realization and her cheeks turned crimson red. She regained her composure and gave him a shy wave, which made Jake smile

"Blair, what are you doing here? You know girls aren't allowed up here." Jake says

"Oh, please. Your little blonde bobble-headed friend comes up here all the time." Blair carelessly waved her hand

"I'm going to ignore that comment." Jake chuckled

"Can I come in?" Blair asks

"Yeah, sure." Jake agreed, moving aside to let her in before closing the door behind him

She wipes her clammy hands on her skirt and wanders around the room, inspecting it before taking a seat on the bed. Soon, she felt something furry rubbing up against her and she freaked out. Letting out a shrilling shriek, she grabbed Jake's arm, tightening her hold until her nerves subsided. Her heartbeat slowed down after she saw a lovely kitten lying on the bed and licking its tiny paws

"You have a cat?" Blair asked Jake, who's eyes widened in terror

"Nurse Park's cat had babies, and this is one of them. Blair, this is Garfield." Jake smiled, gently cradling the kitten in his arms

"Oh, he's precious!" Blair gasped

"Would you like to hold him?" Jake asks

"I'd love to! Tabby cats are my weakness." Blair giggled

"I never considered you a cat girl." Jake says

"Are you kidding? I have two of them at home. I had a black cat, but she was too aggressive for us to handle. When I was 9 years old, I tried to give her a bath and she scratched my face. She almost took my eye out. After that little incident, my parents took her to the vet and put her down. I was there during her final moments, it was unbearable. That was the worse day of my life." Blair explains

Jake sat next to her on the bed, attentively watching her while she pet Garfield, who continued to rub his head against her cheek. She let out an infectious giggle, making Jake smile once more

"I think he likes you." Jake chuckled

"I heard what happened to Nadine. I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to go this far. I just thought she'd get detention or something." Blair stuttered

"Well, nothing's final yet." Jake says

"I lied." Blair says, placing Garfield down on the pillow

"What are you talking about?" Jake frowned

"Nadine didn't attack me in a fit of rage. I was talking shit about her mother, and she snapped. I don't blame her for being pissed. If I lost my mother, I'd lose my mind. She's a tough girl. Even though she lost everything, she still finds a way to smile through the pain." Blair says

"She hasn't lost everything. She still has us, her friends. Blair, if you're serious about turning over a new leaf, then you have to do the right thing." Jake encouraged

"You're right. I'll make it right, I promise." Blair assured

While the two students were deep into a conversation, Devon was sound asleep in his bed, wrapped up in his comforter like a burrito. Unfortunately, his peaceful dreams were tainted by the sounds of someone screaming his name. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he jumps back once he sees Billy cowering over him
