Lexy woke up the next morning with an intense headache. Her hands move down to rip the covers off, but she felt someone's arms around her body. Turning around, she finds Nadine lying on her shoulder with her arms wrapped around her waist, holding her in place
"Nadine, wake up." Lexy whispered, trying to untangle her hands from her waist
"Hm, five more minutes." Nadine replied, snuggling her head into her roommate's neck
"I have a really bad headache, I need to take something for it." Lexy whispered, watching her eyes shoot open
"Lexy, you promised you'd stop with the pills. I don't want you to relapse again." Nadine lectured, sitting up in the bed before grabbing her glasses off the nightstand
"Nadine, it's just Tylenol. It can't hurt me." Lexy assured
"Yeah, my mom said the same thing until she became addicted to pills. Overtime, she moved on from pills and started taking heavy stuff." Nadine explained
"Hey, I won't leave you. I can beat this addiction, I'm sure of it. You just have to keep me afloat." Lexy squeezed her hand
"It just feels like my mom didn't love me, it felt like she was disgusted by her own flesh and blood. Every day, I can't help but wonder if I'm the reason she overdosed." Nadine teared up
"Hey, it's not your fault." Lexy embraced her
"Yes, it is. I could've saved her. Instead, I watched her inject that needle into her arm and stood there while she choked on her own vomit." Nadine broke down
"Nadine, you were just a kid. You're not at fault here." Lexy patted her back
"Lexy, promise me you'll fight. You have to promise me that you're going to try to get clean. I already lost someone very dear to me. I'm not ready to lose you, either." Nadine stared at her through her tear filled eyes
"I'll try, I promise." Lexy pulled her in for another hug
While Lexy and Nadine were having a heart to heart, Jake was in his boyfriend's room trying to talk to him.
"Dev, what's wrong?" Jake touched his shoulder
"I had that nightmare again." Devon said
"Do you want to talk about it?" Jake asked, watching him pull his sleeves down
"Not really." Devon murmured
"Something's up. You've been covering up your arms, falling asleep in class, staying in the bathroom for long periods of time. Whatever's going on, just talk to me about it." Jake softly says
"It's nothing, Jake! Just leave it alone, okay?" Devon snapped
"I just want to help." Jake's voice grew quiet
"Look, I'm sorry. I've been exhausted with all the work we've been getting in class. I've been staying up late to finish it, so I haven't really gotten enough sleep." Devon lied
"If you ever need a pick me up, just let me know." Jake kissed his cheek
"Yeah, I'll keep that in mind." Devon forced a smile
"Are you sure you're okay?" Jake held his hand
"Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry, I'll be back to my old self in no time. Now get going before father Bryce catches you skipping." Devon assured
"Okay, but I'll come back after class is over." Jake slung his bag over his shoulder, giving Devon one last kiss before rushing out the door
Meanwhile, Lexy was in the bathroom eating Oreos with her roommate, who kept checking her out to make sure she wasn't having any symptoms of withdrawal from the pills sister Ruth gave her
