The next morning, Danny and Ryder were in father Bryce's office awaiting his arrival. While they sat in silence, Ryder reached across the room and placed his hand on top of Danny's, causing him to jump in fear. Ryder looked into those beautiful blue eyes of his, which were filled with worry and distraught

"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." Ryder says

"I'm sorry for being a bit jumpy. I'm just a tad bit nervous." Danny apologized

"Hey, we're going to be okay. You trust me, don't you?" Ryder asks

"Yes." Danny nodded

"Okay, then." Ryder squeezed his hand

"Ryder, if I hadn't stopped you, would you have killed your cousin?" Danny asks

"You may not think you're worthy of anything, but I do. You are the sweetest boy I've ever met. You have the biggest heart, the kindest soul. You deserve better, Danny." Ryder says

"Thank you." Danny smiled

As soon as the door opens, the boys pull away from one another before facing father Bryce, who poured himself a cup of tea before taking a seat behind his desk

"Mr McCarthy and Mr Coleman, what an unexpected surprise." Father Bryce began

"If you're going to punish us, just get it over with." Ryder sighs

"Didn't your parents ever tell you to respect your elders?" Father Bryce asks

"I'm already getting bored of this conversation." Ryder muttered

"Sister Francis told me that she saw Gabriel Coleman in the nurse's office yesterday. He had a concussion and a bloody nose. Any idea how that happened?" Father Bryce sipped his tea

"He hurt Danny, I was just trying to protect him." Ryder explains

"Mm, I see. Mr Coleman, please step out of the room for a moment. I would like to have a chat with my fellow student." Father Bryce dismissed him

"I'll be outside waiting for you." Ryder whispered

"Okay, thanks." Danny says

Once the door shut, father Bryce got up from his desk and approached Danny, who kept fiddling with his tie

"There's nothing to be nervous about, son. There's no one in here but you and me. You can talk to me." Father Bryce says

"I got jumped yesterday morning. Please don't punish Ryder! He's done nothing wrong, he was only trying to protect me." Danny rambled

"Take it easy, Danny." Father Bryce chuckled

"I'm sorry. Whenever I'm nervous, I tend to ramble on and on." Danny stutters

"Would you care to explain why those students attacked you yesterday?" Father Bryce sat beside him

"You know why." Danny muttered

"Listen to me, Danny. No one is born with evil in their hearts." Father Bryce says

"Tell that to my parents." Danny chuckled

Placing his glasses on the desk, Father Bryce turned to face Danny, who still had his head down in shame

"I've met your parents. It looks like you got your work cut out for you. I'll admit, they are a lot to digest." Father Bryce says

"You don't understand, father Bryce." Danny sulked

"I know more than you think, Danny." Father Bryce placed his hand on his shoulder
