The next morning, Jake and Devon were lying in bed, intently gazing into each other's eyes. While Devon caressed his lover's cheek, Jake let out the most contagious laugh known to man. Letting out a chuckle, Devon leaned forward to plant a soft kiss on his forehead before lying his weary head on his chest
"I wish it could be like this all of the time." Jake whispers
"You know what I say? To hell with the rules. I love you, okay? I should be allowed to see you whenever I want." Devon says
"We have a funny way of keeping our relationship under wraps. You know, considering we're always sneaking into each other's rooms in the middle of the night." Jake giggled
"Yeah? Says the boy who climbed on my roof in the middle of the night, scaring me half to death!" Devon shoved him
"Really? You looked pretty chill to me. If I recall, you're the one who threw me on the bed and kissed me." Jake reminisced
"Excuse me for being an affectionate person." Devon crossed his arms
Throwing the covers over them, Jake plants a soft kiss on his boyfriend's cheek before lying down in bed, wrapping his arms around his lover in a tight embrace. Unable to contain himself, Devon reached out to touch his boyfriend's curly hair, filling him with immense joy. Jake loved it when he ran his fingers through his hair; his touch was so soft and gentle. He lived for these moments—the moments he'd hope would last forever.
"I love you to the moon and back, Jake." Devon pressed their foreheads together
"I love you more, Devon." Jake sighs
"That's not possible." Devon taunted
"I just realized something." Jake frowned
"What's that?" Devon asks
"Lexy's no longer a third wheel in our friend group. Now she has someone who will love her unconditionally." Jake smiled
"Speaking of Lexy and Nadine, what do you think they're up to?" Devon asks
"I don't know. They're probably drowning their sorrows in Oreos or something." Jake shrugged
"That totally sounds like something they would do." Devon giggled
While the boys were enjoying each other's company, Lexy and Nadine were in their dorm room dancing along to a Taylor Swift song
"I'm going to twirl you, okay?" Lexy whispers to her girlfriend, who's eyes went wide once she realized what she said
"No! No, don't do that. You might drop me. I don't want to fall, it's super embarrassing." Nadine's cheeks flushed
"Hey, don't worry. If you fall, I'll catch you." Lexy squeezed her hand
"You promise?" Nadine asks
"Cross my heart." Lexy says
"Okay. I trust you, Lexy." Nadine sighs
Lexy twirled Nadine into her arms before dipping her, trying her best to hold in her laughter once she shrieked. Burying her head into the crook of her neck, Lexy burst out laughing while Nadine tightened her hold around her girlfriend's waist, slowly loosening her grip once her heartbeat slowed down
"I told you I'd catch you." Lexy laughed
"That's not funny! I could've hurt myself." Nadine frowned
"I'm sorry, kitten. Forgive me?" Lexy pouts, gently caressing her cheek before kissing her on the forehead
"I'll think about it." Nadine tapped her foot
