The next morning, Devon heard a soft knock on the door and he gets up from his cluttered desk to answer it. Once he opened the door, he locks eyes with the boy he spoke to yesterday
"Hi, Danny." Devon greets
"Hi! Can I come in?" Danny tugged on the hem of his shirt
"Yeah, sure." Devon moved aside to let him in
"I'm sorry to bother you so early in the morning." Danny stuttered
"It's fine, what's up?" Devon asks
"Well, I spoke to my parents last night. Apparently, they're renewing their vows." Danny says
"That's good, right?" Devon frowned
"It would've been even better if I was invited." Danny sighs
Danny flopped down on the bed, bringing his knees close to his chest and hibernating himself
"Your own parents didn't invite you? I have no words. That's completely messed up." Devon says
"My sister was right, they're never going to change." Danny twiddled his thumbs
"Sometime in the future, you should give them a taste of their own medicine. You know, throw a wedding and "forget" to RSVP them." Devon gently smacked him
"That's dark, dude." Danny chuckled
"Danny, you don't owe your parents anything. Who you choose to be is entirely up to you, not them. It's your life, live it by any means necessary." Devon advised
"You know, you could've been a therapist. Maybe even a guidance counselor!" Danny gasped
"Ew, no. I'm not that much of a people person. I don't know about you, but I value my solitude. What's the matter with you?" Devon scoffed
"I mean, you're great at giving other people advice." Danny laughed
"Why didn't you say that in the first place?!" Devon's voice cracked, making him laugh even harder
"I'm sorry." Danny wheezed
"You're terrible." Devon giggled
Suddenly, the door swung open and Danny jumped, slightly startled by the loud noise. Jake walked in and set his bag down on Devon's desk, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion once he saw Danny and his boyfriend on the bed together
"Should I leave?" Danny whispered
"There's the door!" Jake snapped
"Jake, stop it." Devon demands
"It's okay, I can take a hint. Thanks for the talk, Devon. I'll see you in economics!" Danny waved goodbye
"Yeah, see ya." Devon called out, waiting until the door closed to turn his attention back to his lover
Jake paced back and forth, his nails digging into the palm of his hand in a fit of rage
"What the hell was he doing in here?" Jake asks
"You're doing it again." Devon sighs
"Doing what?!" Jake squealed
"You're letting your insecurity get in the way of things." Devon says
"If you walked into my room and saw me lying on my bed with another boy, you wouldn't be upset?" Jake asks
"You know what? I don't have it in me to go back and forth with you today." Devon grabbed his jacket before heading for the door
