Markus had only a second to push Dresden out of the way before he was thrown against the wall. He let out a groan of pain when his body hit the hard floor. He barely had time to let out a breath before he was grabbed by the throat.
The demon leaned toward him, and licked the side of his face. Markus turned his face away in disgust.
"Your scent is truly refreshing."
Markus brought his hands up and aimed his fingers at both eyes of the demon, digging into the soft flesh.
The demon let out a loud pained screech. Markus waited for hold to loosen from around his neck before kicking his leg out.
His leg caught the demon hard in the stomach, throwing it back a few meters. It hit the hall, leaving behind cracks.
Markus rubbed his throat, wincing at the soreness.
"This feels like deja vu."
"Markus, you're bleeding?"
"I'm fine."
He wiped the blood from his mouth then glanced over at the demon to make sure it wasn't moving. Not too keen on another fight, Markus motioned to Dresden to follow him.
This place was a maze of corridors with no exit.
"How long do you think we've been in this place?"
"Probably a couple of hours."
"These demons are trying to capture you."
"With no luck so far."
Dresden laughed, "That's a good thing."
Markus suddenly grimaced and doubled over in pain. It felt like someone was slicing across his stomach with a sharp knife.
"We need to get you back to your body and get rid of that parasite."
Dresden flung his arm around Markus's shoulder to help steady him.
Markus could barely keep his eyes open at this rate. His head feel like it was being split in two.
"Markus, I know you're tired but we need to leave."
"Don't worry. I promised you that I would take you to your sisters."
They walked down another long darkened corridor. It was eerily silent but there was no sign of any other demons.
"I found your sisters in a place like this. They were turned into demons."
"How were you able to save them?"
"I'm not sure. I sensed their real selves and used some of my blood to change them back."
"So, you have a blood bond with them?"
"Yes, I do."
Markus finally spotted a door at the end of the corridor.
"There's a door up ahead. Do you want to see where it leads to?"
"We can't waste anymore time."
The door looked like an ordinary door but Markus was still cautious.
He leaned his head against the door to listen. Hearing nothing from the other side, Markus grabbed the door handle and turned it. The door slowly swung inward, revealing a flight of stairs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Mitchell held Markus's body as it began jerking on the couch.
"His soul isn't in his body." Susan told them as she leaned wearily against Kev's shoulder. "That parasite needs to be removed from his body. He's in pain because he's trying to resisy its control."
"How do we get rid of it?" Mitchell asked, wiping the blood from Markus's cheek.
"I'm not sure."
"If our brother was here, he could help us." Rayne spoke up from her silence. It was the first time she has spoken since they got attacked.
"There's a way that we can help."
Melina got up and left the room, returning a few seconds later with a knife in her hand.
"It won't last but Mitchell's blood can help Markus."
"Of course. Mitchell is his bonded mate."
"We'll give it a try."
"Are you sure that's a good idea?"
Mitchell always get aroused whenever Markus bit him. He was not looking forward to getting an erection in front of the others.
Kev must have detected his train of thought because he winked at him.
"He can drink from your wrist. It'll be more easier."
Mitchell took the knife from Melina and made a small cut. He watched blood welled to form a pool before putting his wrist to Markus's mouth.
At first, Markus's mouth barely moved. Then his mouth latched onto his wrist.
Mitchell smiled, brushing the hair from Markus's forehead. He bent over him and placed a kiss on his mouth.
"Markus, baby if you can hear me. I need you to come back. We're all here waiting for you."
Antonio descended the stairs, holding a leather bound book in his hands.
"It's the Abyssal Concave."
"Abyssal Concave?" Mitchell asked Susan.
"Dark sorcerers that used dark magic to channel powers. They used parasites to control powerful Hybrids.
"How did they find that Markus was a Hybrid?"
"Thomas..." Mitchell whispered.
"How did Thomas found out?" Kev asked.
"Does he have relatives alive today?"
Susan glanced at Mitchell with a serious expression on her face.
"I think it's time we have a talk with Malachi and your mother."
"Why?"
"Thomas has been dead for over two hundred years. How could he be alive now?"
"He's a part of the Concave." Charlie concluded.
"Thomas tricked everyone into believing Malachi was evil. He knew Malachi was the only one who could stop him." Mitchell now understood what Elder Clarence meant.
"If he found a way to come back then that means he wants to use Markus's body."
"He's not getting his hands on Markus." Raven hissed out, eyes flashing yellow.
"Of course not." Mavka reassured, pulling her into a hug to calm her down.
"I'm going to call my mom. I think it's time to inform her of the situation."
"She's gonna be very pissed that we kept this from her." Melina warned him. "She may not be Markus's guardian but that doesn't mean she isn't protective of him."
Mitchell grimaced at the thought of his mother's temper. She was deeply attached to Markus since she knew him as a baby. Now, all this was happening to him and no one told her.
"Any volunteers on telling her?"
The silence that followed only lasted for a minute before he heard the front door slammed shut.
"What the hell happened to Markus?"
