Markus wrapped his arms around Mitchell, resting his chin on his shoulder. He liked this side of him.
"You sound really sexy right now."
He kissed him on the ear, smiling when he felt him shiver.
"Markus, what are you doing? We have company."
"I don't care." He heard Cassie cleared her throat and looked at her with a bored expression. He wasn't playing their games tonight. "Look, It was nice seeing you guys, but I'm on a date."
"We haven't finished talking Markus."
"There's nothing to talk about."
Markus looked at them both, then took Mitchell's hand and walked away. It wasn't going to be the last time he saw those two. He didn't know why they keep showing up wanting to talk to him.
"You're like a high powered magnet attracting more bees than honey."
Markus laughed at his analogy.
"That's the first time I've heard that."
"All these flies buzzing around you is starting to irritate me."
Markus gripped Mitchell's face in his hands, caressing his cheeks. He stared him straight in the eyes, his gaze never wavering from his.
"Flies or bees. I only want you. I don't care what they think about me or how many of them want me. As long as you want me and need me, that's all that matters."
"Good. Because I'm very possessive when it comes to people I love."
Markus slammed his mouth on Mitchell's, kissing him like a starved man. Gripping his head tightly in his hand, before plunging his tongue into Mitchell's mouth.
Mitchell let out a moan as he pulled away. "We should get going." He held out a hand in front of his body to halt his advances. "Don't come any closer to me."
Markus put both hands in the air. "I won't come any closer to you." Even as he said those words, he took a step forward.
Mitchell took a step back.
One step forward.
One step back.
Mitchell's back hit the vehicle, halting his movements. He had nowhere else to go.
"No where to go Mitchell." Markus pressed his body up against Mitchell's, his two arms trapping him within their confines. He bent his head to sniff at his neck.
"You smell really good." A tongue ran from his ear to his collarbone.
"Markus what are you doing? We're in public."
"Look around Mitchell. There's no one here but us."
He watched Mitchell as he checked his surroundings, only a few vehicles were in the parking lot.
"Someone will see us." Mitchell touched his cheek. "Let's continue our date."
Markus reluctantly stepped away from him, taking deep breaths. "I'm sorry about that."
"It's fine Markus. You haven't done anything to me."
Markus put a hand on his shoulder.
"Have you ever been to a carnival?"
Mitchell shook his head. "But I've always wanted to go to one."
"Well, your wish is about to come true."
Markus walked him around to the passenger side then entered the driver's side. He started the engine and drove out the parking lot.
Fifteen minutes later the vehicle parked across the street to avoid the crowd. Markus paid for their tickets to almost every ride in the carnival.
He wanted Mitchell to enjoy himself.
"We can have drinks but no eating until we leave. I don't want you getting sick."
"Okay. Which ride are we going on first?"
"It's up to you. This is all for you."
"The Ferris wheel."
They made their way to stand in line. During the rides Mitchell couldn't contain his euphoria because it was all so new and exciting. Markus won him stuffed animals and they took pictures at every opportunity until it was time to leave.
"This was so awesome!" Mitchell said, his arms filled with stuffed animals.
"I'm happy you had fun."
"Fun...fun...it was amazing!"
Markus piled the toys into his trunk, putting what couldn't hold on the back seat.
"What are you going to do with all these?"
"You won them for me. I'm keeping each and every one of those toys in my room."
"Do you have the space for them?"
"I'll make space."
Markus saw how he was serious so he dropped the subject. It didn't make sense to try to talk him out of it.
"Have you ever listened to Caribou?"
"No. I've never heard that name."
Markus turned on the radio, plugged in his phone and turned the stereo up a little.
Caribou 'Can't Do Without You' played from the speakers.
"When I first heard this song I thought it was strange. But I listened to it a couple of times and it stuck."
Markus tapped his finger on the steering wheel in time to the beat of the song.
"It's not bad."
Markus couldn't resist touching Mitchell. He took a hold of Mitchell's hand, caressing the skin.
It always helped to soothe him. His eyes glanced at his rearview mirror and he saw a dark blue car following behind his vehicle. Wanting to check if they were being followed, he changed direction instead driving to the diner. The same car still followed behind them.
"Why are we at the diner?" Mitchell asked when he pulled into the diner's parking lot.
Markus killed the engine. "Aren't you hungry?"
The diner was packed but they managed to secure a table at the back. Karen came to the table carrying two menus. She didn't make any eye contact with him.
"Karen. How are you?"
He waited to see her reaction. She smiled at him as she gave them the menus. "I'll be back to take your orders."
"It's more than a crush she has on you, isn't it?" Mitchell asked when they were alone. "She's in love with you."
"Yes, she is." Markus didn't see the point in lying.
"Did you guys ever...?"
"No. What I told you about her babysitting me was the truth. I was completely oblivious that she had any feelings for me."
"When did you figure it out?"
"I didn't. She told me one night when she came to see her brother at the game."
"Did she made a pass at you?"
"Do you really want to know the answer?"
"No, but I need to..."
"Are you guys ready to order?"
It was the other waitress from last time. He guessed Karen wasn't ready to face him as yet. The waitress took their orders and left, only looking at him once.
"Tonight is for us. Let's talk about this another time."
