"I don't think we should keep this from Markus." Mitchell told Kev.

He had seen the way Markus's eyes had glowed red at them. Whatever was happening to Markus, was affecting him more.

"I know. We can tell him when he comes back downstairs."

The relief that Mitchell felt seemed to lift the weight off his shoulder. He couldn't keep any secret from Markus.

"Tell me what?" The atmosphere was tensed and expectant because no one knew what was going to happen. Markus right now was like a ticking time bomb.

Mitchell turned when he heard the question. "That we were trying to find the driver of that vehicle."

"We wanted to handle the situation before anything else happened to you." Kev chipped in.

"Why keep it a secret?" Markus's eyes flared red for a second but he took a deep calming breath.

Mitchell stepped closer to Markus, to hold his hand. "Do you trust me?"

"You're my mate. Of course I trust you."

"Then believe me when I say that we're doing this for you."

"Don't make decisions without me. I don't like it."

"We won't."

"Have you found anything?" Markus asked Kev.

"I thought we should wait until the night of your party."

"Why? Isn't it better to do that now?"

"We have Tia and the others looking into it for now."

"I think we should wait and see if they find anything." Mitchell said.

Raven walked leisurely into the room, her tail swishing eagerly behind her. She went straight to Markus, wounding her way around his legs, completely ignoring him.

Markus bent to pick her up and she snuggled into his arms.

"I'm convinced that she likes you better."

"I'll take her for a walk. I'll be right back."

"Do you want company?"

"It'll be fine Mitchell. Don't worry."

Mitchell watched him turn to exit the room. "Take your phone with you."

"In my pocket." The door silently closed behind Markus.

Mitchell turned to Kev, "Do you think he'll be alright alone?"

"He'll be fine." Kev looked at him. "I want to ask if you know anything about Raven?"

"What do you mean? She's a cat."

"She is a cat but not a regular one."

"What do you mean?"

"That's why she's so protective of Markus. She can sense his true nature."

Mitchell stood staring at Kev in confusion, wondering what he was talking about.

"Kev, you're not making any sense."

"She's a shapeshifter."

"She's a cat that I found in my room."

"Raven is not a regular cat. She's his protector."

Mitchell's mind flashed back to when Raven had first met Markus how she had accepted him right off the bat.

Why was she in his home, if she was Markus's protector?

"Do you think the others know?"

"They're Supernatural beings, of course they're aware of Raven's origin."
