Markus glanced at the endless fog of darkness, trying to get a glimpse of where he was trapped. He had been walking through this fog what felt like hours and haven't any way to escape from here. He turned to his left and walked forward, hoping he would find a door.
He had no idea where he was. Or how he got here.
It seemed the further he walked into the fog, the more his body felt lethargic. It also hurt to move.
The fog started getting denser which made it easier to spot the plain black door up ahead. He glanced behind him to make sure he was alone then strode towards the door. He carefully inspected the door to make sure it was secure before grabbing the handle. The handle turned easily in his hand and the door slowly creaked open.
He took a small step back, just in case anything was waiting to ambush him on the other side. He peeped inside the room but it was completely dark.
After waiting a couple of minutes, he cautiously entered the room. The second he passed the threshold, the door slammed shut behind him.
"Markus Graves. It's a pleasure to finally meet you."
Markus swiveled around when he heard a slithering sound coming from behind him. He felt something brush his cheek, then a sharp pain.
"What am I doing here?"
Silence.
Markus moved further into the room, until his foot kicked an unidentifiable object that was on the floor. He crouched down to touch whatever was on the floor. It was a body.
There was a low moan as it wiggled away from his touch then silence.
"Hey, are you okay?"
Silence
Markus closed his eyes for a second then opened them again.
The room lit up now that he was able to see. He looked down and saw a naked male body on the floor, curled into the fetal position. He carefully turned him onto his back to get a better look at his face. Markus's eyebrows crinkled at the familiarity of his features.
"Hey, open your eyes." He gently tapped his cheek.
A low moan of pain left his mouth before his eyes blinked open.
Green eyes stared up at him in fright.
"I'm not going to hurt you. What's your name?"
"My name... it's Dresden."
"I'm Markus."
"How are you here?" Confusion coated his words. "You're hurt?"
"I'm fine." Markus glanced back at the door but it had vanished.
"How did you get here?"
"I don't know." He stood up to have a closer look at the wall but his arm was grabbed.
"Don't leave me here."
"I'm not going anywhere. I just need to find a way out of this place."
Markus spotted a crumpled cloth in the corner and went to pick it up.
"Cover yourself with this."
"This place isn't real." Dresden told him as he wrapped the cloth around his body.
"What do you mean?"
"Your real body isn't here." Dresden swiped a hand out and it went through his body.
"How can I touch you?" Markus asked.
"You're a powerful Hybrid."
Markus stared at him. "How do you know that I'm a Hybrid?"
"I heard them talking about you."
"Who are they?"
"Creatures that don't belong on earth."
"Did they mention anything else?"
"The blood..." Dresden trailed off, then shook his head.
"What is it?"
"I can't remember. "
"That's okay. I need to get us out of here."
Dresden made to get up but Markus put a hand on his shoulder to keep him from moving. "Are you feeling better now?"
"Not really."
Markus lifted his right hand to Dresden's forehead then pressed two fingers against his throat. His pulse was beating irregularly.
"I can help you feel better. But I need you to trust me."
"That's the weird thing, I do trust you."
Markus leaned forward and let out a breath against his forehead.
A wisp of smoke drifted from between his lips towards Dresden's skin. The smoke melted on his skin, spreading over the surface. Markus stepped back and stared at him.
"How are you feeling now?"
"Much better. Thank you, Markus."
Markus finally figured why Dresden's features seemed familiar.
"Your sisters are looking for you."
Dresden looked at him, surprise on his face. "My sisters are on land?"
"They came searching for you and got captured. I found them."
"It was foolish of me to come here alone."
"I'll get you out of here."
"How?"
"Can you stand up?"
"Yes." Dresden tried to stand up but his legs buckled.
Markus gripped his arm to steady him. "Wait, I'll help you."
Once Dresden was firmly on his feet, he glanced around the room. "How are we getting out?"
"I'm going to try something. Stay here, where it's safer."
"What are you going to do?"
Markus walked to the wall on his right, and put his hand on the surface.
He wasn't sure if this was going to work but he had to try. Lightly, he ran his fingers over the wall until he finally found a specific spot.
After making sure Dresden wasn't near him, he mumbled a few words.
The walls started pulsating like it then flames licked at the wall, igniting it on fire. The wall burned until it formed a hole quite large for their bodies to pass through. Markus turned to help Dresden to the hole.
"How did you do that?" Dresden asked, eyes wide as he stared at the hole.
"That, I still don't know."
Markus exited the room first, just in case there was something waiting unexpectedly on the other side.
"How are we getting out of here?"
"We keep walking until we find a door."
Markus put a hand on Dresden's shoulder to stop him from moving when a loud warbled demonic snarling echoed in front of them.
A shadow emerged from the darkness, red devilish eyes staring at them.
