Mitchell laid down on his back with a sigh. His head felt like it was on overload. He heard Raven scratching at the door and got up to open it.
"Where have you been?"
She strolled in, jumped on his bed and closed her eyes. He stared at her, shaking his head.
"How did it go?"
Mitchell didn't answer right away, just sat on his bed, and took off his jacket.
Malachi was standing near the window, his body partially turned away from it but he was still able to look outside.
"It wasn't uneventful."
"Did you ask him about what I told you?"
"I didn't have the chance. Things got awkward at dinner so we left."
"Things got awkward or did you get jealous?"
"I didn't get jealous."
Malachi wasn't staring at him instead he was looking out the window. He pushed the curtain to the side, peering intently at whatever had caught his attention.
"You need to come with me."
Mitchell got up to stare at him. "I'm not going to a cemetery at night."
"You'll be fine."
"Are you crazy Malachi?"
"You wanted to meet him again. He's there waiting for you."
Mitchell argued with himself, going into that graveyard at night wasn't a good idea. But he needed to know more. He grabbed his jacket as he was leaving the room. He walked down the stairs to the front door.
He locked the door and with his small flashlight, cautiously making his way to the back of the house. At night it wasn't a beautiful area, just endless darkness. Sounds that he never heard during the day reached his ears.
When he reached the gate, he hesitated. Did he really want to go through with this?
"I know why you're hesitating. It's not because you're scared of my uncle. You're scared of the unknown."
"What are you now, a philosopher?"
"I was like you before my untimely demise."
Mitchell pushed the gate open and pushed it open, shining his light as he walked through.
"What's the real reason your uncle killed you?"
"My mother wasn't an ordinary woman. She had powers that he wanted. But she met and fell in love with his brother. When I was born, my dad died but I knew my uncle killed him. I told my mother and she confirmed it."
"Did you ever confront him?"
"Before I could, my mother did. She died protecting me."
"Your uncle initiated the rumors about you to the villagers."
"The guy you saw talking to him in the barn was an Elder."
"What's an Elder?"
"Elders are immortal beings, the creators of the magic realms."
Mitchell came to a standstill to glance at Malachi.
"Why are you looking at me that way? Is it really that hard to believe?"
"I'm talking to a ghost, in a cemetery at night. What do I know?"
"Good. At least you're not panicking."
"Let's just get this done. I don't want my mom waking up to find me like a crazed person in a cemetery."
"Your mom might surprise you."
