"Not unless his parents are different creatures that are mated to each other." Susan stated seriously.
"Did you know about this?"
Markus shook his head at Kev. "My parents have never mentioned anything to me."
"Do you know their origin?"
"They always kept that a secret from me. Ever since I was young they never once divulge their lineage or introduced me to my grandparents."
"Did they explain why they didn't let you see your grandparents?"
"No. I finally stopped asking when I turned nine. It was getting tiresome asking the same question over and over without getting an answer."
"We need to get that information before anyone else finds out that you're a hybrid."
"What would happen if they did find out about him?" Kev asked confused.
"A hybrid in Pine Crest is like finding a goldmine. That's why his pheromones makes him so damn desirable. Imagine if people find out he's a hybrid, they would go crazy."
"For now, let's keep this between us."
Mitchell entered the room with a tray just as the conversation finished between them. He placed the tray on the table in front of Markus.
"Susan, your mom wants you in the kitchen."
"Duty as assistant cook is never easy." Susan got up and went into the kitchen.
Mitchell glanced at Kev. "I thought you would help her."
"Everyone is safer if I don't try to help with the cooking." Kev said taking a sandwich from the tray.
"My mom says the same thing. She loves Markus's cooking though. She practically zones out when talking about Markus or his cooking. I don't like it."
Markus laughed at the look on his face. "Your mom is harmless."
"Mitchell your mom is just happy to have someone to cook with and dote over." Kev took a bite of his sandwich. "How is your mom doing anyway? I haven't seen her in a while."
"She's fine." Mitchell sat down next to Markus, pressing close to his side.
A calm settled over him as their skin touched, his fingers lightly brushing his arm.
"This is a really good sandwich."
"Thanks. That's all I can make."
"I'm better at fighting than cooking but Susan can do both."
"What about you?" Mitchell shifted in his seat to face Markus.
"Well..."
"Markus ranks number one. He's been training also. His parents got tired of him sneaking out and just let him be."
"So, you're not only a great student, you're also smart, handsome, can cook, fight, you're also kind and handsome."
"Babe, you mentioned handsome twice." Markus smiled at him amusingly.
"I got to give credit."
Markus direct his gaze at him for a few seconds, looking away as soon as Mitchell felt his eyes on him. That perpetual feeling still lingered. He took a deep breath attempting to calm himself from the thoughts in his head.
"Markus, are you okay?" Mitchell asked, worry heavy in his voice.
He saw them watching him intently but he feigned he didn't see their worried looks.
