"One chicken salad for you." Mitchell placed the plate on the table in front of Markus with a smile.

"Thanks."

"I may not be a great cook but I do know how to make sandwiches. Always a sure thing."

Mitchell sat down to watch him eat. He placed a hand on his forehead which felt cool to the touch.

"Good. No more fever."

Mitchell sighed resting his chin on his hands. Even wearing his shirt Markus looked good.

"Why are you smiling like that?"

"It just amazes me that you look good in anything. You'd probably look good wearing a potato sack."

"I wouldn't go that far." Markus said laughing.

"It's true."

He heard the front door opened then close. His mom was home. She must have emptied out the supermarket.

"A little help here sweetie."

Markus got up to help but Mitchell shook his head at him. "Stay. I'll help with the bags.

"Did you bought out the supermarket?" He asked upon seeing the bags.

"This is just for two weeks."

"That's a lot of groceries for just two weeks Sarah. Are there any more bags outside?" Markus asked walking to her.

"I told you to stay and eat your lunch."

"I'll finish eating when I'm done getting the rest bags."

"Five more in the trunk." Sarah told Markus as she passed him to go into the kitchen.

"I'll get them. Be right back."

Markus strolled out to her car to grab the remaining bags from the trunk. Making sure it was locked before going back inside the house.

"This is your special recipe. You never make it for just anyone."

"Markus is important to me."

"Well at least you can make him this instead of trying to burn the house down."

"It was one time. The fire was put out before it spread."

"We would have been homeless if it weren't for my quick thinking."

"You screaming for help like a lunatic was quick thinking? Our neighbors thought you were on angel dust."

Laughter sounded from the kitchen. Markus pushed the door and put the bags on the counter.

"Markus finish your lunch. We'll put these out of the way."

Markus ate his lunch, while they stored the groceries away.

"Do you want another sandwich?"

"One is good enough." Markus got up to wash his used dishes then sat back down.

"Will you be staying for dinner Markus?" Sarah asked putting away groceries into the cupboards.

"Not today. I was just passing by."

"Well, you're welcome to stay for dinner anytime."

Markus gave her a nod of acknowledgement.

"I need to talk to Mitchell then I have to go."

Sarah waved her hand in dismissal. "Go on. I'm going to start dinner."

They left the kitchen to sit down on the sofa in the living-room.
